Word. As long as there aren't signs of abuse, runs/rides well, and it doesn't go down the road crooked like my brother's old El Camino, it'll probably be ok. There are a lot of members with that kind of mileage (myself) and other members with a whole lot more on their 4.6's

Enjoy it.

never hurts to check into the history of the car(if it was previous total loss or any serious accidents). try to find out the maintenance history on oil changes and other fluid changes(trans, coolant, rear diff) (proof if possible). To me, if theres no oil change sticker in the window, and the oil is pitch black, its probably not maintained very well. check for oil leaks, transmission oil leaks, and rear diff for oil or caked on dirt/oil.

TRY EVERYTHING. make sure all power options work as they should.

hope this helps.

i do believe 3.27 is stock gear ratio, go and put 4.10s in it and you will love how it handles and tears up tire!! although im sure ur 88 is much faster in a straight line lol there is a guy here who just bought a mustang with 159k on his and its still goin fine... but its nothin like an ol five OH! get monsterous miles outta a 302... however, the crown vics and stuff cabs and police cars can get like 330,000miles on an original 4.6 motor!! so really it depends on how well it was taken care of... a good thing to check other than smoke and shifting smoothness is the buttons on the radio, the floor mats, and pedal pads....

if the radio is smoothed right out to the white plastic, someone wasnt very much of a careful driver meaning they prolly didnt take great care of the car (providing its a factory radio)

the floor mats will usually have a groove where the foot was, if its near the gas pedal, then most likely a lot of your miles are highway...

and the pedal pads themselves, on an auto this is KEY!! make sure the most smoothed out rubbed off part is in the bottom right hand corner of the pedal... this means the person actually drove with ONE foot the whole time not two at the same time causing uneven/unnecessary strain on the drivetrain over long periods of time

if they drove with just one foot, your good to go! and watch out, if your not opposed to change, you may dump the ol five OH like i did and change your whole world to the 4.6L... they really are a beautiful engine inside and out
