ideas on selling the 1997 Mustang gt coupe for a new 2010 Mustang gt coupe
ok so im just looking into the cost for a new car, as opposed to dropping a million dollars into mine. i have over 9k, maybe more like 10k+, in plans for the car ive got now, and i was just thinking about keeping the money for a year, saving my extra dollars, and putting a stupid down payment down on a 2010 stang gt coupe. for 5 yrs would be about 500 a month, with 3500 down. bringing my price down to around 25kish. only addons would be 3.73 gears. would be the gt (non premium) 5 speed. spoiler delete, no stripes, and sterling grey metallic. nay ideas on if this is a good idea, or should i just drop money into my car now and make it wicked? im torn between raw power and handling, and the new styling and tightness (and no not like oh im supercool trying to be black even though im white, "tight" ness haha) of the new edge stang. i saw a couple over the last few days and wanna have sex with it. straight up haha. so im trying to weigh my options.

01 red gt 5 spd, bassani catback, short shifter, bbk CAI, 3.90's, steeda sport springs, cobra R rims 17x9 255/40 front 275/40 rear and as long as the money keeps comin so will the parts ;p
i would too!! if i could afford it for a decent reasonable price, i would get an 06 GT with say 30,000miles on it kona blue with white stripes!!! then i would add in my financing a supercharger and a handheld tuner and be SET!! but i cant afford the insurance sooo ya
but for about 10-15k i could make my car one of the nastiest rides around here...and i really truly love the car i have it has more meaning to me than just another car... i saved her from a wreck and everything put her face back together and saved TONS of money... but i dont have nowhere near the coin you do sooo ya... really it depends on what you would rather ride around in everyday... i think i would rather ride around in my 98GT but it has flames and stuff down it soooo ya that kinda makes me not care about the 2010GT enough to go finance my life away

Def wouldn't invest in a 2010.. Too expensive and not really worth it IMO. You could make your current car beast or get a 99 or 2000 for around 5-8k. Then spice her up good.
Would not waste the money. Stick with what you have if it's paid off. Not only are you going to go and buy an '10 which you will have payments on, then your insurance will go up too. Did you figure that into the cost of purchasing the vehicle?
yaaaa im pretty sure dick works in a bank lol so, as far as i know he is pretty well in touch with his finances so im SURE he factored in the insurance cost

hahah yeah i did. insurance would be right over 200 a month. and i loooooove not having a car payment. and i love the idea of making my whip sick as hell. but i also hate waiting haha. my impatience is theonly thing making me consider it. i mean, my car is going to be gutted with race type interior stuff. like two racing seats to keep my a** planted around a corner, roll cage for when i inevitebly(?) smash into a wall and 5 point harness to keep me in that seat. then dynamat type floor sealer/sound deadner. and a decent race suspension. then motor work. cause i plan staying n/a. id rather have a 13 second n/a car (and keep in mind i dont give a dam* about going in a straight line) than a 11 second s/c car.
if i can get past the impatience part, i will keep the car. but then i look at the money i have to put into the body work. mainly just to pas inspection (header pannel and head lights) and then the other things like a super rough bumper i wanna get replaced.
so overall i dunno. jsut weighing the pros and cons. and its not that i can EASILY afford the car. just with not spending a million dollars on it, and not modding it every month, i can. but my fiance will have to agree to it also, and thats gonna be the tough part

Pay no attention to this man. Waste the money; that's what it's for. Keep Americans working!
Not sure how much you've driven the new Mustangs, but you can make 'em handle very well, and they're easy to get more power out of.

a new 2010 gt would be cool for a while.. but the craze will die out, and a new body style will take its place.. or obama will get us bombed and it wont matter.
why trade in a classic sn95 for a new one?
the new ones arent muscle. touch screees? glass roofs?
i dont think thats what a muscle car is, new cars are just big computers on wheels.
not to mention the build quality, sheesh!
i read that someone did a burnout in a 2010 and broke the tailshaft off the tranny.. wtf?
can you imagine replacing the exhaust, and how many lights would come on saying "check engine now somethaang iz wrong!"
stick with the 97

Next summer looking to go with:
Bilstien shocks + struts, Lowering springs (brand still TBD (any suggestions?)), MM CC plates, front + rear sway bars, subframes, and upper and lower control arms.
Time to make the pony ride some rails
i drove an 05 and oldlugs is right, MAN they can handle some corners WOW they are stable ponies!! but again, for the same price if not SIGNIFICANTLY less, you could get the same thing if not better
its all on what you wanna look at dick... i would probably rather drive an 05-2010 each day than my old 94, but my 98 has flames on it and goes pretty fast and gets dam good fuel economy... so i LOVE to look at my car... if you could afford it, and you like the body style better, i think you should go for it, and as previously mentioned, keep the American economy up and help with all that stuff too! but remember, trying to mod as well as pay the monthly payment... ummm ya talk about being patient.... however, you WOULD have a 3v motor which is pretty close to the 4v on multiple scales... just get a tuner for ur 3v car and WOW watch it move!!

I agree with this however you can get a 2010 without all that. But I think the sn95 looks more muscular with the right mods. The new ones are nice cars but if there isnt anything wrong with the one you have I say keep it. Or if you end up getting a new one...wait for the 2011 with the 5.0.

Yeah i think ive talked myself back in to spending money on my car. im not going home to Texas for the thanksgiving week (im fuc*ing pissed about it) so ill just save a bit more money and spend a bibt more money on the car. i think ive got my suspension, for now, dwindled down to some more affordable options, then tuner, gears and i need new tires haha. so ill get some cheapos till after winter and i can get new fr500's. im thinking the 17" just cause theyre a bit more affordable for the wheel and the 17x10.5 can fit the wide ass 315 tires. tires. im so excited haha. but that will be about 2500 later on and ill be good for a little while, hopefully have it be done by feburary.
but yes, i like the sn95 cause its, from ehat i see, the least liked one cause its got the least amount of power stock. i love an underdog haha
