with ur kinda budget you should be able to find a real clean one with about 70K on it...maybe even one with a few mods that someone even did right if ur lucky just dont settle for the first one u see...they are easy to fall in love with at first sight...

i got my 02 gt with 50,000 miles a couple of months ago for 10,000 with sucky credit from a big @$$ dealership who allways wants more than the cars worth but i would say for 9 g's no more miles than 70,000 mostly depends on the year but these motors are really good just make sure its take care of and good luck take your time and dont rush into something you will regret later trust me the longer you go the better deals youll find
I got my '02 GT this past March with 49,500 miles on it at a small dealership for $10,500 with almost all of the mods listed in my signature on it already. I agree that $9K should get you one with around 70k but it all depends on how many of them (Mustangs) there are in you area, the demand for them, and how much they're going for. Good luck in your search

If I had to do it again, I would had shopped around..I paid 10,900 for an 02GT with 81K. Not to mention my 23.99% finance rate and Im looking at damn near the price of a brand new mustang.lol........
I bought it from a small dealer that prays on people like me with "0' credit. Ive put now...ahh...lets see....$2,600 into the car so far and this doesnt include ANY mods. My tranny is now going out and Ive had the car for 5 months. Not to mention the dealer I bought the car from closed down....
IT WAS THE FLOWMASTERS THAT GOT ME!!!!! THE F'n FLOWMASTERS!!!! BE CAREFUL.. WEAR EAR PLUGS.............lol
But seriously man...shop around. I cant tell you how many times (after the fact) I have looked on CL and seen people selling 02-04 GT's for like half of what I paid with way less miles. They are out there. If I did it again I would had saved up a little more and then bought it thru a private party. And it would be stock...or lightly modded. And one more thing.....just because a motor appears stock, doesnt mean it allways was. A lot of people yank all their parts they've invested in before trading in or selling...so..
Inspect it..Inspect it some more...if you think it's ok...V-LINE straight outta there....there's a better one sitting in a garage down the road.!!!! Just my 2cents...Good luck..
i personally try not to buy vehicles with more than 100k miles TOPS... i found mine with 46k on it so i jumped on it. use kbb.com and put in your info and what you're looking for (or what you have found) and it'll tell you a fair value for the car. don't let people yank your chain either about "i put 5000 into the car in mods so i think this $4k car is worth $9k"... people love to do that, but used parts aren't worth what they were brand new. and when you find one and get it get all the documentation (receipts from mods, maintenance) that you can for your records.
i bought my 98 GT with only 98,000miles on it for 1300 bucks fully equipped with the flame job and blown air bags... but it only cost me 300 bucks to get my car back to perfect lookin/runnin condition...as little-razcal said "theres a better one down the road in someones garage they are trying to get rid of" if you must finance, i would go to the bank and get a personal loan... but if u got the 9k saved up, dude, your golden!!! remember, YOU have the moeny and THEY need it... so show up with cash, check out their car, make sure you go for a ride in it, and run them down on their price like you were Amish ppl NEED money now a days, and they would be pracitcally willing to give it away for a leg up in their situation... the guy wanted 1800 for my car... i walked away payin 1300!!

He's 100% right when I was looking for my GT stang if I had settled for the first stang I saw I would have had to replace the tranny right away lol.
But I waited and waited and then found my White 03 Mustang GT 5- speed and needless to say she was perfect (engine, exterior, and interior) and it was love at first sight! She has by FAR been the best thing I have EVER bought. And she only had 61K miles on her!
