Default looking to add power for $1000

hey guys, im going to have about 1k to spend after christmas from saving my paychecks and christmas gifts, and of course, its all going into my mustang.

what could i do to it to make it run a few tenths faster in the quarter, or just plain run better?

i normally shop at AM but im open to new parts sites.

thanks for any and all suggestions, even if it isnt about speed!

well if the only mods you have is the ones in your sig. then get gears and throttle body upper plenum tuner udp's etc..or you could do the PI swap close to that price

well, if you already dont have it, new gears (3:73's, 4:10's) and a tune by SCT or DiabloSport will do you real good. other than that, maybe some Nitto Drag radials (555's, or 555R's) they will hook really well and decrease your time and they look real good strapped to your rear wheels

take the heads and intake off a 99-04 4.6 and put them on the npi 4.6 motors. doesn't apply for v6 motors.

not to derail this thread, but I'm in the same situation in this guy,
I have a hypertech programmer, is it worth buying a different one?

Hey silver, Going with a Custom Brenspeed Tune Sct, Pulleys, and some gears 3:73 or 4:10 you would be laying down 22 to 30 more horsepower and the gears will help your pony get up to speed faster. If not the gears maybe some headers to hook up to your h pipe and flows, you would see a couple horse there too. You will see great gains with pulleys and a custom brenspeed tune.
Hope you have a great day.
Thanks www.brenspeed.com

fender, it's not worth buying another one unless you just feel the urge.

gostrider, how do you like the Trick Flow cams? I just looked at theirs and was a little unsure. Can you put up some videos?

that brenspeed guy is good. very personable :P

i hear everyone saying gears.. thats in every post.

why do 3.73's make so much difference?

btw, my engine is close to 160k and running like new, so i dont want to be revving real high when i do get on it, so thats why ive avoided gears....

Gears help a lot cause they put you in the powerband faster and multiply the torque going to the wheels. My 3.73s are going in tomorrow and my 08 GT had 4.10s. They're a great mod.

yes gears do make a huge difference i see you want a couple of tenths off your time and gears are what you need to do that unless you wana throw something big on it..i say do a 3.73 gear and handheld tuner with a custom tune on it and it will feel like a new car and give you what you want
