Default Excuses , Excuses

I just got pulled over Friday , by a New Mexico Cop for doing 83 on a 55 mile zone. What really sucks , is that it's the most perfect highway in the world. Perfect asphalt , no trafic whatsover , and two separate lanes of trafic. Only a cop on the oposite lane like a mile away. I remember just seing the cop u turn then bam. I got fined big time. So my question is this. What to do when pulled over. Beside not puling anything suspicious out . What can you do to lessen the blow of the ticket. By the way this was at night , and no I don't have a radar. Maybe theres some secret psicology you can use to maybe make the cop not give you the ticket. And by the way , no I don't speed anymore. Guess it works.

I haven't tried it yet, but I heard running from them and pretending you have a gun works really well. Sometimes you'll get the ticket, sometimes you won't. But you will either be shot, get the crap beaten out of you, or go to jail. Sometimes your a big winner and get all of the above.

Oh, uhhhh... I wasn't planning on trying it either

I just do what they tell me to do, I don't lie, I stay calm (on the outside), I call em "mam" and "sir." Just be nice until they give you the ticket. Then after that, it doesn't really matter.

Ok in order. 1 Place your hands on the dash so the officer can plainly see them.2 Never find your lisence too quickly, never have it on top of your cards and stuff. Stall but not long enough to piss them off. 3 When you get out your registration and insurance card. Tell the officer I am getting my registration out of the glove box. Move slowly do nothing to make them nervous. As Mana said be very polite you cannot over do this. If you still get the ticket always fight it. Do not just mail it in and pay. If you have the money hire an attorney. Almost always they will reduce a ticket. I have had officers too busy to show up at court you then win by default. good luck Dennis

Adjusting the cleavage and hiking up the skirt always does wonders for me! But, I don't really think that you could pull it off!

The longer you can keep a police officer chatting with you, the less likely you'll be to get a ticket. Pull off the road as far as possible so he can feel safe standing at your car.

If you're from out of state, you're f'd. They won't cut you a break unless you're driving a minivan full of screaming kids. Plus, New Mexico sucks for getting tickets. I've seen NM Highway Patrol pull over a line of 5 cars all at the same time, and write every single one of them a ticket.

I usually only get pulled over out in the middle of nowhere....I ALWAYS ask for the ticket to be moved to the county seat. A cop knows he won't drive sometimes 100+ miles each way to go to court, so he won't write the ticket.

I live near LA and was driving to Vegas. I got pulled over 3 miles before I reached the NV state line. So BEFORE the cop started writing the ticket I asked to have it transferred to county seat (which would be San Bernardino in this case). The ticket would normally have to be written for the local court, but because I asked, the ticket would be written for SB which is 150 miles from where I was pulled over and about 50 miles from my home. The cop will not drive the 150 each way to appear in court so 90% of the time, will not even bother writing the ticket. They tend to get really pissed when you do this, but it works in the right situation. I have gotten out of 10 or more tickets while traveling to Vegas and/or Phoenix by doing this.
