Yes, it's 220 flywheel, just 200 hp engine + cai + exhaust + headers.

He has lightweight wheels too, 9 lbs each.

It's rice free too, the fart cannon is obviously the only exhaust he can go with, but it's not bad sounding, isn't loud at all.

He raced my brother (Bro ran 13.0 without nitrous or slicks) which is a 2001 LS1 NHRA Special Edition Trans Am 325 hp stock. Dynoed 348 RWHP when they raced. He kept up darn good (The civic)
heh...cool...but 40-50 grand for a freakin engine only to pull 12s? I guess thats just not my box of chocolate.

EDIT:
Spoons are only 5 grand...

I never said my friend has a Spoon motor. His motor cost him less than 4k installed.

Hey Venemouss, no offense or anything but even 4k for 220hp sounds a tad bit silly to me. My car is 180HP stock and with 4k it could easily be at 280HP. Honestly, 280 horses would only run me about 3k so I'd still have one thousand bucks to get that body kit I've been drooling over.

I'm not saying your friend is stupid or foolish. Not at all. I'm just saying he probably could have gotten more bang fo rhis buck. Thats all. Also, before you get defensive, I'm not taking pot shots at his car either. There, I think I covered my butt nicely.

I think there is one rice boy here in town with a spoon. Not positive. I can't think of any other import motor you'd pay 20k for. Then again if its not German, British, or American, I know jack crap about it.

Would you pay 5k to shave a time from 17s to 12s? I would bet you would....

It's a import, the motor cost a lot because unlike our cars, they do not swap out gears, their gears kinda have to do with the motor they have on when they can shift, he shifts and 9 grand plus.

Was that in response to me or to rks? I just thought I'd ask before I typed out a well versed reply for no good reason.

yes, i would.

i must be missing something i would much rather buy a 14 second car and spend 5K to make it an 11 second car. maybe even 10's. as for shifting at 9000 rpms thats fine but if i can run the same times or better shifting at 6000 rpms i'll do that instead. the engine will probably live a little longer.

I am not going to argue about this guys. The kid lost his father and got some money from insurance, think he spent a good deal just to get it off his mind.

I don't need to defend him, i agree it was a good amount of money. Lets leave it at that =)

you guys..... you guys just talk about big hp numbers and stuff, u guys have to pull big hp cuz stangs are heavier.. What sounds silly to non stangers is 390hp and only mid to high 12s??

http://www.jkynetwork.com/RvsEVO8.wmv

you will prolly nto see a car with a spoon motor in it driving aroudn town so you guys can stop saying how stupid it woudl be to blow 20k on a motor like that.. Spoon makes tons of parts and just cuz he has a spoon sticker doesnt' mean he has a spoon motor..but the point is...like 200 something hp in a lite car equals quick quarter mile times..

If a stock Cobra is dynoing out at 370 rwhp i do beleive it is actually 435 hp at the flywheel(Ford underrated these cars). the weight doesn't help the car at all. The reason these cars run mid 12's is basically trying to get the power to the ground. the suspension is setup for autocross/road racing and not the 1/4 mile. Get rid of the IRS and you will see much better times on the Cobra.

If the Civic is running 12.9 on slicks and the cobra is running 12.7 on streets you are comparing apples to oranges. What does a Cobra run with slicks? high 11's?

Did the Civic have a passenger seat, rear seat, and door panels when it had the 12.9 run on slicks?

No, it will usually break with the IRS.

Yes all seats and door panels, just no AC which only sheds 30 lbs.
