Well 10 Minutes ago I just beat a late 90's Civic with the logo SPOON in its back window. I am taking it that he had an engine swap to the spoon engine. I was slowly over taking him (I was behind him at the light) from 15mph to about 80 and then....WAMMMM...I went right on by. This guy had the look of "Sh$t...how in the heck...GRRRRR"

I love messing with rice... It's great when they pull up on you and try to mess. I had an integra TRY to mess with me on the freeway last week. That was priceless.
wow...you gave him a ricer fly by? Maybe he stopped racing, or was he really racing. dang, at least I know when the guy next to me wants to race. the christmas tree goes yellow, yellow, yellow, green. and we go.
So many people always say they raced someone when just maybe they were just starting off fast. duh! This is a typical RICER attitude. Take it to the track and know for sure you are racing. Beside...A CIVIC isn't worth your gas at over $2 a gal. Hunt LS1's. be a big boy and stop hunting little toys! Save the toys for the 4 bangers.

1. Judging by the high pitched farting noise coming from his coffee can, I would say he was still racing.
2. My car will be at the track when it opens for the Wednesday night fun drags.
3. Its an almost stock GT...it would be worthless to put it up against an LS1 fbody, that would be a waste of gas. Semi guaranteed wins against rice is worth the gas to me. Its nice to shut up their sh$t talking.
4. I wish I had a picture of the SPOON banner ths guy had. I wonder if he could have seen out the rear windshield.....that made it worth the gas.
5. Lighten up, 95% of the time I shift at 1900 to 2000 rpms, hardly racing I prefer the track.

maybe he is the one laffing at you? a real civic spoon with a decent dropped motor can and will smoke u.. they dont make power till way up top though so when you heard his exhaust he prolly was just driving normally and not racing...

So...if a car is going 5 mph by you with a loud exhaust, he is racing you? They have the same pitch at 1/4th throttle and full throttle....
Anyways, he probably had a Spoon sticker on the back of his vehicle just because he wish he had the money for a Spoon engine. Becuase if he had a spoon engine, he would rip you a new one. Those motors are like 40, 50 grand and insanely nice for a import engine.
He probably had like a Spoon shifter and used the sticker that came with it and threw it on the back of his window, or just bought a sticker and put it there.
My friend has a 220 hp (not at the wheels) 1992 Civic Hatch and with slicks runs 12.9..... i witnessed it, he smacks Lt1 F-bodies most the time.

Are you sure it was only 220 bhp??? Were the Lt1 f-bodies running slicks also? Doesn't an Lt1 fbody only put 245+- hp to the ground (285 bhp) weighing in at 3500+ lbs? What does his car run without slicks (I am thinking he might lose a second or more without slicks because he can't hit 7 grand and drop the clutch)? I do believe that there are some mostly stock PI GTs running 13.7+ on streets (I know you will correct me if I am wrong.). Also if he makes all his power on the top end, I would have a marginal advantage (because of my torque) until he hit his top end and then it would be upto the driver.
Maybe the standard horsepower rating for a spoon sticker isn't 100hp per square foot???? GAH!
Anyways, the ricer fly by comments are kind of harsh since I was behind the guy until about 80+ mph and then started to pull him harder and passed him (though I was slowly gaing on him throughout). Maybe he doesn't have a spoon...maybe he did let me win...Maybe his carbon fiber hood (maybe it was just a decal) didn't add the specified import horespower...will never know...
/time to make a camera mount behind my seat

Those spoon engines are something else. They don't even redline until sometime AFTER 10 grand and they make some crazy horsepower. I know if I saw one on the street I'd run him to 60 or so just for shits n giggles, but I wouldn't be mad if I got beat horribly.

Dude, his car ran 12.9. He had his car weighed and it's something like 2280 lbs with HIM IN IT.
Those cars normally have 80 hp engines, so 220 is nuts for it.
Yes, it's 220 flywheel, just 200 hp engine + cai + exhaust + headers.
He has lightweight wheels too, 9 lbs each.
It's rice free too, the fart cannon is obviously the only exhaust he can go with, but it's not bad sounding, isn't loud at all.
He raced my brother (Bro ran 13.0 without nitrous or slicks) which is a 2001 LS1 NHRA Special Edition Trans Am 325 hp stock. Dynoed 348 RWHP when they raced. He kept up darn good (The civic)
