Default Security

I actually don’t own a Mustang although I wish I did I’m driving a 98 Regal GS which sadly has its mods removed besides its CAI. Anyway I am just trying to find out about some security for my friends 2001 GT.

Well the story goes like this. 3 times thieves have tried to swipe it. Three totally different locations, the last being in a Church parking lot he was attending a few days ago. The car is in the shop for damaged wires and ignition cylinder after the low life’s busted the steering wheel column up trying to hot wire the car. This happened during the previous 2 attempts as well. He has some high grade Viper security system installed along with what ever measurements Ford has applied to the stock cars. He takes the normal common sense precautions so that his car isn’t easy prey. The car has yet to be successfully stolen only vandalized leaving a dent in his wallet. I was reading up on some steering column collars that would at least create a visual deterrent to anyone looking for an easy car to steal and this would maybe further help them from damaging the column in the future event they do gain access to the interior of the car. Does anyone know where you can purchase these for his make or have better suggestions on how to handle this besides having to wait in a good hiding spot with a sniper rifle and shooting the scum as they attempt to break into the car? Although that is a pretty affective method :thumbsup

- Proximity sensors
- move the ignition switch (and wiring) to other location and install a pushbutton starter, the thieves wont see the switch and turn away (hopefully).
- Fake police badge left intentionally on the seat

Wouldn't that make things worse? I would think that would invite vandalism.

I'd go for NRA stickers or pamphlets instead, or a few Guns and Ammo magazines.

for me, deterrent starts way before an alarm. Don't go blasting a high dollar stereo in neighborhoods you'll be back in frequently and don't tell a bunch of people what you've got in there. Don't leave expensive stuff in plain view when you park it. Don't piss off a lot of people right before you park the car for a long period of time. All that and keeping the car underneath bright lights whenever possible seem to work ok for me.

don't leave the keys around.....park the car alone, in an open lot, but with lights......
