Default Went to the track

3rd time at the track with my 98 vert gt, basically stock, flow masters, mac CAI, i finnally broke the 14.9 (sounds lame but im happy with that on a 110K 5 speed. before i only got to run2 each time when i went to the track before, and my best was 15.013, this time i ran 10 or so times and got 2 14.XXX best was...
Reaction : .535 (i know it sucks)
t1: 2.153
t2: 6.164
t3: 9.557
mph ( t3) 73.010
ET : 14.942
Mph: 91.177

it was fun, really calm night they call, " it bring it to the track night", only 50 or so cars racing at speedworld in phoenix, lots of srt-4's and stangs though, lots of crappy drivers also...what do you think of my time, launched at 2500rpm,not dumping it though, and no powershifting...

Most tracks are now making a perfect reaction time .000 on a .500 tree. So there is some confusion as to what that actual reaction time is. The best light I ever cut was a .079... and I've only been down the track about ten times. Took three different trips. Each time the car was setup different.

Those times aren't that bad you may be able to cut some time off with some more practice. It also depends on how hard you drive your car. When I go to the track I drive it like I'm taking it home on a tow truck.

yea im condused to i been into drag racing since i can remember, and racing myself since 16, and this .500 perfect light has always confused me.... i dunno if they were running the "old" style .000 perfect light or .500, ooppss. just looked at some competors reactions, .458 was a foul.... wow better light than i thought i knew it couldnt be a half second. wow, all my reactions times are good, .535 .540 .575 .649 .610 .659 .810 .769. anyway i drove the car almost as hard as if it wasnt mine and i didnt have to pay for it. but this is my daily driver, i gotta be careful.... i still owe 800$ on the last time i broke it. hehe...

yeah, looks like it. dark satin green metallic. i love this color.

5200 sounds just about right. i shifted about 5100 when i had stock heads in the car. so many people overrev these engines and wonder why they're running bad times.

welcome to the 14 second club!! I know how frustrating it is to be stuck on the border at 15. My car bone stock except drop in k&N and weld in flows ran 15.3's. Then added TB and got me a 15.1..might been weather i dunno. Added control arms, x pipe and intake spacer and couldnt get past 15.03!! So added Pi cams and FIPK, ran a couple of 14.9's and then my best 14.82 so close to 14.7. Anyways i bet u can squeeze a little more out of it, but still good times! :thumbup

Try a 165 thermostat. I haven't tried it yet. But it's a cheap mod.

Do you have gears? My car stops producing power at about the same point. That's an awesome reaction time!!! With stock gears i pulled 14.9, now with 3:73's I can only pull 15.1.

stock gears. 3.27 if im not mistaken. Yea i wanna do a 180 thermo just because i live in phoenix the hottest desert in US, almost... Anyway. ponygirl... you lost time with 3.73? sounds like you arent quick enough with the shifting, and adding more shifting equals more time for you.... never thought of that, i could be wrong though. quick4.6 - i know what ya mean, i used to have 302 67 xr-7 cougar with hydraulic lifters and about 4500 rpm the lifters didnt do anything felt like a rev limter, very similiar to my stang. i beat a pi head swap 97 gt, an 03 gt with suspension mods, wheels and 325 rear tires... i also beat two srt-4s, lol goes to show you reaction time and decent(DARE I SAY) driving can win a race. its also funny to see people shifting too quick as with the srt-4 guys, they just get in to the power band 4000 and up and they shift and bog, lol, c-ya!

I don't know if gears differ from the auto's and manuals, but my 5spd came stock with 2:73's. 3:27's came stock on the 99+ models.
