badass, look at how fast he's going though. some might look at that think he's out of his mind. truth is if you're not doing triple digits on that stretch of road, you're gonna get rear ended.

Will changing gears kill the milage? This car isn't a convertible but for the miles that is on it, I am thinking it's a good buy. It looks like a brand new car in and out.

off the highway, your mileage may actually increase. because you will be in 4th gear instead of where you would normally be in 3rd. however, on the highway, your mileage will be worse than it was. but only by a couple of mpg, depending on how steep your gears are.

Default Changing gears

Changing the factory gears for 3.55s will get you a bit more performance without too much of a mileage hit; 3.73s or anything more will make a mark on your mileage. (Don't you practice your alliteration on me!) For reference, I have an '03 Cobra, and the last time I calculated the numbers, I was getting 15.1 mpg, and that is with my foot in it. A lot. If you want to improve the mileage on your GT, tire selection can help (harder compound tires aren't as much fun, but they'll help), and upgrades to your ignition system (an MSD or similar and bigger gaps) are good for performance and mileage. A six is an option too - cheaper on insurance, and they can hopped up just as well as a GT. Good luck! -Jim

My 99 GT Auto VERT has a 4.10 rear end. I'll jump on it once in a while and still get about 15mpg in town close to 20 hwy
