I am just worried about the gas milage. I have a pretty long commute to work. I have found a used 2004 GT for a pretty good price. What kind of gas milage will I get stock? And what can I do to make it better milage without making it a nondependible car?
Hey Daniel. I have a 2002 Mustang GT. I drive 14 miles one way to work. I also drive it around town and get on it allittle bit.I average between 20 to 25 dollars a week. I haven't figured out the milage yet. But it really isn't that bad.I hopes this helps.
it all depends on how you drive it of course. if you drive it like you stole it everywhere, you can bet on around 14 or so. if you drive it like you would a normal car, or like you're trying to get decent milage, you should be able to pull out around 23 mpg.

I don’t get the 24 miles per gallon the Mach advertised but then again for some reason I think I must get to the speed limit as fast as the car get me there…………..wonder if that has something to do with it?

- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
I dunno, maybe you should baby it around town for a full tank to find out LOL.

If you really bought a GT with gas milage concerns, you'd be just about the only one. Most who keep their 8 banger, never look back to see how much they're spending in gas.
Most bought the GT to go fast, and look good doin' so.
If gas milage is truly a concern, then I'd advise against the GT. A six popper would be much better for you. Mustangs weren't meant for everyone.

I am usually pretty easy on the gas pedel. I have a project truck already, so I am not to worried about making making it a race car. I just want something that sounds good and that can run when I want it to.
i get about 20-22mpg in my 98 cobra. its not that bad at all, i wouldn't worry about it. the fun factor is well worth the gas mileage. to improve your gas mileage, a k&n filter will help a bit. an exhaust would help also.

Stock 2002 GT w/ 28000 miles.
I drive mostly around town and have gotten an average of 19 mpg since the beginning of October according to my Fuel Log. That's mostly "nice" driving with a few blasts through the gears here and there.
Figure another 3-4 mpg average with more highway driving.
If you're going to be concerned about gas mileage, a Mustang -- even a V6 -- isn't for you. Go get a Civic and laugh your way to the bank at 40 mpg.
If you want to have style and fun and enjoy the "Mustang mystique", then get that Stang and think of the extra gas money as part of the "cover charge".
When my stang was stock, I got 28 MPG when I took a trip to reno. That was some good mileage ... Ussually got around 20 around town... Now I get anywhere from 10 MPG to 20 depending on if it's all city driving and how much I have my foot in it.
My'''02 GT is automatic. Few mods - intake spacer, ported polished stock plenum and a free flowing cat back. I run the a/c constantly - never ending summer in Florida.. I average between 19 and 21 in mostly intown driving. Mine is a weekend driver so I'm not stuck in go to and from work traffic. I suspect that it would be 17 or 18 in commuting traffic. At least it runs great on regular fuel.
As long as it gets more than 20mpg on highway that is fine by me. I will be driving 50 miles to work every other day. On my first post I put it was an 04' but but I guess it is an 02'. It only has 7850 miles and I can get it for $13000. Is this a pretty good price for it? All the other ones that I have seen at this price have had alot more miles.
i got a 04 also and i drive regularly to Miami from West Palm Beach which is roughly 60 and so miles away, and i do 90-130 and i use 1/2 tank, so if you drive it normal, youd probly get good gas milage, and iuno if im wrong but i think when i turn the air conditionar off, i get better gas milage? iuno im probly stupid :hearton:
you use a 1/2 tank in 60 miles? i go 150 miles on the highway with a 1/2 tank!
