Default [Impressions]got up close and personal with a 2005 GT today...

fyi, i own a 2003 GT.

my buddy works one the side for some REPO people and Dealership's here on the west coast...he's kind of an independent contractor so to speak. This weekend, he drove up to a FORD dealership in Park City, Utah to get a white 2005 GT coupe with red leather interior. When I arrived at work this morning, I saw it sitting on his trailer (behind his RAM 3500 Diesel Duelly) I just about pissed my pants, as I knew that I would be getting my way with the car The car still had the window sticker (27k) and was secured to the trailer....unfortunately, I didn't get to drive it, but I did get to spend some quality time with her once he tossed me the keys...I looked her over for a good half hour.

First off, let me say that the car is just beautiful

Interior:

Ford did an amazing job. I love the Instruments. Everything is very legible and OLD SKOOL looking! Didn't get much of a chance to play with the colors considering it was daytime. The stereo seemed great, but that's not unusual for the blue oval...they make great stock systems. I DON"T like how they moved the parking brake over to the left side, seems awkward to me. the seating position and shifter are definately more ergonomic...seemed that the stock shift kit had shorter throws etc. Door panels are really cool. That was one thing (outside of the instruments) that i fell in love with immediately. I am not a big fan of making plastic look like aluminum....it irritates me, but the dash was done allright. Not sure how I feel about the steering wheel, I'm just going to have to drive one to make my final decision. I wish they would have done a with the seats, like the comfort weave on the Mach One, but i ain't complaining.

Exterior:

Ford really cleaned up the car. They removed all of the non functional bull shi+ and really made it elegant. Non functional side scoops and hood scoop is gone. I wish the would have but a little bulge in the hood on the GT's, but it still looks clean. I am WILD about the front end...it looks great, but there is something missing about the rear...just doesn't do it for me. Not wild about the rims on this particular car. They weren't the 5 spokes (i have a soft spot for those) -- they were the "other" aluminum rims....I like the bullit style rims on my 03 GT, but that is subjective. to each their own.

Sound:

WOW! For a stock exhaust it sounds pretty damn good. Almost like an exotic. I have a Bassani X-haust on my '03, so it has a pretty good and deep rumble. The exhaust is definately higher pitched than what I like, but I think I could get used to it. Wonder what it would sound like with an aftermarket exhaust? I liked it though!

Overall:

I love it and want one. Will wait for teh COBRA
