Default Gear Pattern question

I am building a rear for my 96 GT. I have a set of FRPP 3.73 gears, rebuilt traction lock (standard clutches) I am curently setting the rear up out of the car (bought a housing from a 95) and am trying to get the rear set up but it dont seem to be liking what I'm doing. attached are the pics I took of the pattern. This is with .008" backlash and a .034" Let me know what you think.

In one pic the pattern looks to be on the heel and on another the pattern looks like its on the toe of the ring gear. Are these new or used gears? The pattern should be pretty uniform all the way around. Are you sure the bearings are all fully seated(pinion and carrier)?

Yes the bearings are seated, these are new gears as well, not used. I borrowed the Rotunda Pinion depth tool from a buddy of mine and found that the gear needed a .025 shim. The stock 2.73's had a .029 shim in it stock, trying to set the pinion by measuring the 2.73 pinion head/shim vs the 3.73 pinion head is where I got the .034 shim from. I am going to reassemble it this week with the correct shim and do another contact pattern on it. hopefully this is it.

Big question !!!

Are the gears 5 cut or 2. makes a big difference in how the pattern looks. The pattern on 5 cut should be OVAL LOOKING on new 2 CUT they are more boxy and .008 is way to much lash. bring it down to .005-.006 And leave that 34 shim in. You will even that pattern out by decreasing the back lash. You are very very close right now. As the matter of fact if those gears are used you are on the money. Used gears are judged by the COAST SIDE ALWAYS. Reduce that back lash and you are DUN!!!
