IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME LOCATE A ALUMINUM INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR MY 1998 MUSTANG IT WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED. PLEASE EMAIL ME AT CROOKHATER98@YAHOO.COM. I LIVE IN TEXAS. HAVE HAD TWO MANIFOLD CRACK ON ME GETTING TIRED OF IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GIVE.
I don't want to mislead you, I have a lot to learn about cars still.
With that said...When mine cracked, I believe it was the upper. It was where the radiator hose returns. Ford made that piece out of plastic and EVERYONE I know with a 98 had it crack. There was a recall, but 2 1/2 year sago, I was already to late to qualify.
I have a 95GT now, but I miss that 98GT. When I had the intake replaced, I just went stock, and I always kicked myself afterwards. It's such an expensive repair, you might as well go all out and get the benifits of hi-pro parts...
Good Luck.

This time around it's a 95GT Conv AODE
im not too sure that they even make an aftermarket piece. mine cracked on my old 97 gt but it was fixed with the ford replacement piece under the recall. it was the same piece mana is referring to. in fact, i believe ford issued a 7 year recall. did you contact the dealership to see if it is still offered. it was a "silent recall". go to your local dealership and talk with them before you go buy anything. they may fix it for nada, zip, zero! :thumbsup

U can get a replacement intake with the aluminum crossover like mana said. This is the part that normally cracks. Or u can get an 01+ PI intake with the aluminum crossover and pick up usually 20 horses. Or u can get the Bullit intake thats all aluminum and prolly pick up 25 horses. With the PI or bullit intake u are gonna have to get adaptors or use some RTV in specific locations so they will match up with your Non PI heads.

before he does any of that he should REALLY see if its still covered in the 7 year silent recall though.

98pony, have you called or stopped by your locak dealer to see if it is still able to be fixed under the "silent recall"?

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread, but I have a 97 GT. The manifold cracked after 28,600 miles. I found that there was a class action lawsuit regarding this part, but my car is 9 years old and not covered. I went to Fold's customer service department in Dearborn, MI and after getting no assitance, I went to their executive group. They refused to reimburse me for the cost of the repairs, $909.40, even though they admitted that the crack in the manifold was due to a faulty design. I took Ford to small claims court in Los Angeles. They sent a regional customer service manager to represent them. She presented to the judge all of the details of the class action lawsuit and a list of all the vin numbers of the cars that they settled with. The judge decided in my favor and I recieved the full cost of the repairs plus my court costs. If anyone has this problem, you can refer to small claims case number LAM 06M08004. The case was heard in the Central District (19462) Stanley Mosk Courthouse, 110 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Hopefully you can use this case as precedence.
