Simply put......100-150 horse shot of juice and some drag radials. Its not easy to beat a LS1.

Anything I might suggest will probably screw up your warranty, but here goes...

1. Gears. 3.73 or 4.10's. 3.73's if you care about day-to-day drivability, and 4.10's if you really need to kick his trans-butt.

2. 70mm throttle body and intake plenum. Recommend Accufab (they come polished and pretty for about $375).

3. DeMolet Tuneable Induction cold air induction system.

4. Steeda Tri-Ax short throw shifter (assuming you've got a 5 speed) or Shift kit for your auto.

5. Bassani X-pipe. With cats if you have to keep her legal.

6. Dyno time for tuning your rig.

This gets you to over $1000 in parts, with another $1000 in labor if you don't do it yourself (get the gears installed professionally, and go to the dyno for your tune - consider upgrading the tune to premium fuel, it will give you an edge). If you can slip in some drag radials set at about 18# pressure, you should hook up really well...

If you want to spend more, just let us know.

Default Clear as the NOS on your face

With the right tune and components, sure. This is onw of those "don't try this at home" examples. If you go with gas, get a pro to do the tune and install. You'll still spend over $1000 for this, probably closer to $1200. Then you might be able to run with a stock LS (probably a sure bet he's not stock, right?)...

With the gas you can pull over 300rwhp, which should be just about even with the Potiac, depending on his build.

Do you have more details of what he's got?

The keys to my car :thumbsup

Anyway if your out to beat this guy there are two ways to do it and neither include crap plastic 200 dollar intake tubes, polished plenums or bigger throttlebodies.

1. Get gears and remove as much weight as possible out of your car. Then take him to the track with sticky tires and weld his ass to the tree.

2. Get gears, sticky tires and a little nitrous and then take him to the track and after you stick him to the tree embarass him.

On reaction time alone I have beat 1/2 second faster cars numerous times and most of them are LS1's.

Oh yeah and practice practice practice practice.

If you were to get a supercharge you'd blow his doors off.

An '04 GT is close enough to make a drivers race. If he has a lot of practice you're gonna need to as good and some help (gears & tires at least). If he is a novice it would not surprise me to see an '04 GT with a good driver take an LS1.

I have seen a lot of guys with "better" cars get left at the tree and get nothing but a good view of tail lights. You make enough power that he will have trouble catching you if you can get him playing catchup. If you launch equal, it could be a rough race for ya.

-- - if you're really serious about the s/charger idea I urge you to consider buying a intercooled or aftercooled unit. More money up front but cheap horsepower in the long run. Car would benefit from gears, exhaust mods, and professional tuning.

Default Can't afford the Supercharger? Learn to cheat.

Superchargers are great (want one myself), but po' folks can win races, too. Run light and run strong, with a little edge where you can find it...

Lightening the new GT's is really pretty easy, so long as you have lots of time. List of heavy metal...

1. Sound system. Speaker magnets are some of the heaviest items on the car. Leave the grills in to fool the mark. Buy plastic "fake front" for stereo hole.

2. Spare tire and jack. Who needs these running 1/4 mile?

3. Window washer reservoir and wipers. Gallon of washer fluid is heavy.

4. Rear seat. Spectators weight a lot, too. Race solo.

5. Windows. Remove them, complete with mechanisms and motors. If its warm, nobody will miss them.

6. Passenger seat. This will probably tip your weight-loss hand a little, but point out how much bigger and stronger the other guy's motor is...

7. Gas. Leave in about a gallon.

8. Floormats, anything you keep in the trunk, etc.

9. Fender liners.

10. Stock H-pipe and assorted cats. Off-road X-pipe will save a lot of weight ($170 or so) and add hp.

This is a list from a personal experience where I helped a friend of mine prep for a grudge match. He had $200 to spend, and no more. We weighed all the stuff and we had managed to lighten his car by over 400# by the time we were done. He beat the Camaro even though we couldn't come up with a loaner set of slicks in time. We were able to reinstall all the stuff (except for the exhaust), too, so his car was back to normal by the weekend.

Other stuff to do: Run race gas and get a tune that will take advantage of this (re-tune right after the race, of course). Drag radials and gears are the big ticket items, and well worth the cost.

But a little sanding on the edges will get you a win if you're careful.

Where is (Blackfang) when you need him LOL.
00-02 LS1's are dynoing around 310-330 rwhp.
*DON'T RACE HIM FROM A ROLL*because you will
get taillights quick.Race him from a stop and you
will have a great chance.By the time 3rd gear comes
he WILL start too reel you in and he has about 100-110 rwhp
more than you so,it's no drivers race for you.LS1's are horrible
off the line so,that is your advantage your take off the line. You
will need great tires like Nitto 555's etc.You will need the 100-110 rwhp
when he starts to reel you in at low to mid 3rd gear.
Here's what will make you a winner:
1.Pratice( power is worthless without knowhow)
2.Tires(you need traction off the line to win so,get good tires like Nitto's)
3.Power!(Get a Kennebell twinscrew supercharger from
www.modularfordpowerhouse.com ! Tim will hook you up also!
I subjest going 10-12 psi. with a excellect tune from Tim at MPH
Good luck.
