Default steering wheel replacement

I self-installed some new leather seats in my GT, and after many hours of work, at the very end, I managed to put a couple scratches on the very bottom of the vertical metal spoke of my IUP leather-wrapped steering wheel when putting the driver's seat . I managed to find a new wheel on ebay for cheaper than what Ford wanted, and I was just wondering if anyone here can give me some quick advice on how to replace the steering wheel, so that I don't screw anything else up in the process. Mostly I have no idea how all that works with the airbag and whatever else is in there.

Also, I've seen IUP wheels scratched (and dented) worse than mine go for over 130 bucks on ebay, so I figured I'd just sell mine there unless someone here is interested. If so, just let me know and I will get you some good pictures of the damage.

If you ar not 100% comfortable, pay a small price for a shop to install it. If you do it yourself be sure to disconnect the battery first. All airbag wiring is always yellow for easier/safe I.D.

I am intereted in doing this myself as my car does not have the leather-wrap steering wheel. Would it be possible for you to post some pics of the screws that you are talking about?

Thanks...

I like the steering wheel from the 2006/2007 Shelby Corbra GT500.

Notice it has leather going all the way around and silly shiny spoke covers are gone (a good move). A much better looking/feeling steering wheel.

If I can get it, I will.

Ok, now that I see the replacement wheel I think I am understanding, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Disconnecting the battery of course is a must. Then it looks like there are two plastic pieces on the sides of the base of the wheel that I need to pop off and unscrew the screws underneath? (these must be the ones he said were "on the side of the airbag")? I guess the thing that scares me is popping the horn/airbag cover off....do I just pull this off once the battery is disconnected? From that point, it sounds like you remove the airbag, unscrew the large nut and do everything else in reverse? Thanks!
