Well i went the to track last night. Went to Kilkare in Xenia. I havent been since Sept. Since then i have added jmod (shift kit) and ported plenum so i figured i at least hit my best if not maybe a little better. Well it was around 85 degrees, in sept it was like 65. First run out i hit a 15.08 followed by another 15.01. So i was getting upset, but close to 14.9. In september i ran 2 14.9's and that 14.82. Third run i hit like a 15.3 with a bad 2.4 60ft. I ran 15.3 stock!! Then i get a 15.12 and then a bad 60ft with a 2.5..worse ever!! I ran a 15.4. Now i know obviously the runs with the bad 60fts were the cause...but 20 degrees in weather hurt me that much?? There was another guy with an 02 GT i assume an auto..dunno but he said he normally ran 14.6 and he couldnt get lower then 14.9 so i am guessing it was the heat and track prep. I normally ran 2.2 60fts before so i even tried feathering it but i guess my generic tires sucks ass and only hit 2.2 once. Since last Sept i added the 351 spoiler over the 281, i dont think it woul hurt it that much tho. I am guessing it was the heat. I seen another 04 GT, dunno if it was auto but engine looked stock and it ran a 15.07. An 01 Cobra vert ran a 14.4 so i am guessing everyone was suffering. Very upset tho...oh well. Only highlight was i raced a 99+ Trans am. I knew i was gonna get killed esp the way i was running. So i get the jump, like a .6 light and he has a 1.2 light..i lead the 1/8th and then he catches up and passed me..i was like ****. Then he misses a shift!!! I was like yeahhhh so then i go by passing him and get to the line first!!! wooo hooooo..and thats what i said in the car, only highlight of the night. I did run an rsx type s, dont know what year but he ran 15.5 and i ran a 15.01 that time and beat a civic SI so at least i still took the rice out.. Sucked..oh well i am gonna get my PI intake on and tuned..and wait til it gets a little colder then run it. My car didnt get a chance to cool down between each run either. Sure did shift hard, it was awesome on that aspect

I can relate that the temperature plays a big part in drag racing. When its really hot my car will only do a 9.6 or 9.7. So far my best this year has been a 9.48. Don't stress, just go on a cooler night and let er rip!!

It's gotts be the temp. I live in Phoenix and this week it's been between 100 and 110 and it feels like I'm driving around town in a freakin 3cylinder econo car or somethin' ......I need to move!

few mods here and there to prep for my blow job
I think you did decent! Good times don't come in one day though.
Weather and track conditions play a big role in your times.
I think you still did good nice times!
It makes me very happy to see some people here actualy do
drag race! :thumbsup
Track prep and weather conditions play a major role in your times.
Why get mad? Sounds like they don't know how to prep the track
correctly. Also 20 degree's hotter plus higher humidity and hot lapping
is going to make your times worse.I'm willing to bet you are a great driver
and it was the conditions that screwed things up for you.It sounds like not
only you but, everyone that night was suffering lol.Your best bet is to work
on your R/T and your 60' the next time you go to the track. For the conditions
I think you did good don't down yourself on one time at the track. What is
your elevation do you know just wondering? Sounds like you are probaly
going to get your best times in the start to mid winter season?Good luck
next time and cheer up man it's o.k. no ones perfect.
I mite possibly be going to Capital Raceway in MD next week.
Thanks guys. Like i said back when 15.1 was my best, i ran at the track similar to a night like the other night. I pulled off 4 15.4s in a row and this time i did hit a few 15.0s so i bet i did improve a little, prolly more like a 14.7,

mbh, here were my times from last friday night, I'm assuming tire must make a big difference. I never ran on my stock tires, but now I have the 18x9 Boyds with Nitto Extreme 555's. Only other mods as of now are K&N FIPK and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. My car is a 2001 GT Auto. Anyway here are my times so you can compare.
Track prep was not good either, never really launched well, track was slick, temp was about 80-85, in central Ohio. Ran at National Trails Raceway.
Worst to Best
14.921 at 93.07 MPH
14.765 at 93.96 MPH
14.745 at 94.01 MPH
14.730 at 94.18 MPH
Thought you may like some insight since our cars are similar.
Just ordered the BBK Plenum and 70MM TB combo, let ya' know if it helped my times in a couple weeks.
Track altitude is 800 something feet. From what i have talked to people, the track i normally go to doesnt prep to well. So i am gonna get this intake on, tune and try to get some stickier tires and head out when its cooler. I am also gonna try a different track. Be weird since i wont be used to it but i am gonna try, its only 440 feet above sea level. SHould get some nice times then!! Weather calculated i ran a 14.7 so i did beat my best time with the jmod but that doesnt mean **** on the timeslip

Yea, that's what all the guy's around here say. Most of them say that I would probably run 14.2's to 14.5's at Norwalk if I'm running 14.7's at Trails. I'll have to make the trip to Norwalk one of these days and find out if it's that much better. Trails is the only track I've ran at so I don't have anything to compare too!
