Next step: drop car off on Saturday for brakes. Will be using the 10th Anniversary Cobra caliper set (F&R, red) with my spare Eradispeed +1 rear rotor set and a pair of 13" Baer Cobra replacement rotors that are also cross-drilled & zinc-washed. While this is being done we'll paint the stock 17x8 Bullitts gloss black to match the car. Looking at wheel spacers for the rear as well. Anticipate this will take one to two weeks. Get to drive the hot one while this is being done.
Next up: the MRT bolt-on hood struts, and set of FRPP 3.73's.

Hey meatball, where'd you get those wheels for the 96? I want those exact wheels for my 96!
-- guess I have to ask 'which ones'?
Gray Bullitts are stock OEM Ford, 17x8 (front)
Black Bullitts are 17x8 (front) from O.E. Concepts, 17x10.5 (rear) from Mustang Tuning; deep dish rears do NOT fit 13" brakes. My Gallery also shows the car w/a set of 17x9 Steeda Ultralite II's on the car w/275/40/17's on it.

Well, it didn't take long for you to go crazy here! Have you sold the ex-wife (er, that sc stang you had)?
Be advised I've got the Baer's on my rear, and the ones that are cross-drilled AND slotted are noisey as hell. (Just cross-drilled is fine - I have those on my front brakes).
Also, whasup with the wheel spacers? Oh, thats right, your calipers don't clear the 17" wheels without them.
Congrats. Looks like you're having fun!

At work the other day I was thinking about your new ride and about all the different things that could be done to it. Why not make it a real fast N/A car. Go 4.10s, VT stage 2 cams, long tubes, shift kit/Jmod, stall converter. Its gonna look sweet with black bullits! What did you want to do with the exhaust? I just drove my car the first time with the Magnaflow catback on and its pretty quiet, with a nice subtle burble. It almost reminds me of when it was stock. I know its gonna wail when I get those 6 cats out of the way though!

I keep an informal list of the mods I'd like to make or made and am happy with, sort of an "ultimate mod" to sit me.
A. N/A Plan (street/daily driver)
1. Gears: 4.10 gears, TA girdle w/stud kit, FRPP drive shaft
2. Clutch: Centerline w/billet adj. kit and new adj. clutch cable
3. Shifter: Steeda Tri-Ax or MSD
4. Suspension: MM strut tower brace, cc plates, progressive street springs, Bilstein struts/shocks, adj. control arms, panhard rod, poly bushings, etc.
5. Brakes: SSbrakes all around with cross-drilled 14's in front, 13's in back
6. Wheels: 18x9 front, 18x10.5 rear with Nitto 555's all around
7. Motor: Fox Lake cc heads, Comp Cams, springs & retainers
8. Motor accessories: TI cai; Accufab tb & intake; March underdrive pullies; sfi balancer

-- yeah, remember I had the Eradispeed +1's on the back of the 96 - I'll put up w/the noise to get the look. Considering adaptors, coupled w/stock 17x8 wheels, to widen track & fill wheelwell. The deep-dish 10.5" wheels would not clear the Eradispeed-equipped 96. The stock Bullitts do, ID is larger, and will be fine on the '01

Those arn't the stock oem wheels in the back? What size tires are those? Looks to be like 295-315.. Those fit on oem wheels? What tires are they?
-- ok, those are 17x10.5 aftermarket Bullitts (and 315/35/17 Sumitomos) that are NOT deep-dish, and will clear both Cobra brakes & Baer Eradispeed+1 setups. The black DEEP-DISH 10.5's currently on the car DID NOT clear the Eradispeed brake setup so I swapped brakes back to the OEM size. Do not know source on wheels but you can call Jon Dega at Springfield Motorsport, 703-339-3780, and ask him; he got them for me. They are sweet; he can have them painted any color you want if gray doesn't do it. Be advised that aftermarket wheels may or may not match the OEM gray, and did not on his genuine 01 Bullitt. He ended up painting all four wheels to match. The wheel color in the picture you referenced does not match front/rear; that's why I got rid of them for the deep-dish. Should have just had all four painted as Jon ended up doing.

Ya know this is kinda humorous. I'm not bagging on anyone by any means, but I thought the point of gettin this car was to leave it alone for the most part. Just goes to show that once you got the bug, you can never get rid of it.

-- You're correct. The point was to have a convertible that looks good to me, was reasonably quiet, got more than 12 miles a gallon, and didn't jar my teeth out when driving around the not-so-good city streets in the DC area. Upgrading the brakes is definately a combo performance/looks approach that, based on reactions to the 96, ellicits a lot of positive comments. Painting the wheels black simply suits my current tastes. Adding a little 'scoot' w/some 3.73's, if and when I do, doesn't really deviate from the orig. plan. Am happy to stop there. Be nice if I could keep both cars but can't afford to. The '01 won't be fast but should look respectable and be personalized just enough so folks know I care about my cars.

18" deep dish wheels (www.mustangtuning.com) will clear these brakes, and are available in black, chrome, grey and polished versions (I run the polished 18x10" on the rear with no problems. Have discovered that I can fit 335 tires on these (if I delete the quad-shocks) as well, but be advised fewer tire choices in 18" size, particularly wider than 295's (mainly limited to competition tires or VERY expensive "supercar" run-flat tires that may not go flat, but WILL flatten your wallet!).

I do like the 18" look better all around but have newish set of KDWS's on the 01 now, and with budget constraints, trying to work within narrower framework. Here's a couple of 18" shots. Dropped the '01 off and picked up the (dirty) 96 - pics of completed work when available. Also received the MRT bolt-on hood struts yesterday.
