Default I need a new intake Manifold

I have a 2000 GT I have a crack by the thermostat. Since I have to replace the intake manifold what is the best one to buy and is it difficult to change out?

No not too difficult at all to change out. Are u looking for a stock replacement? Get a Ford PI intake with the aluminum crossover so that cracking doesnt happen again. If you are going for performance with the added benefit of not cracking there are several options u can find if u search.

check out the professional products typhoon intake manifold, 500 and something and it gains about 20 to 30 hp depending on your other mods.

If you have no intentions of doing the internals and heads, save your cash and go stock. The Typhoon shows the increase (on a built motor) at around 6500rpm. There are a few more that are supposed to be out in the early part of 06 (i think we are now mid 06) but they have not turned out any dyno results. Ford obviously did their homework (or lucked out) on this intake as no one seems to be able to improve on it.

I wouldn't say no one has been able to improve on it. The P51 and Reichart racing intakes both make decent gains. But to really take advantage of them you need head porting and cams.

what i plan on doing when i replace the intake is put a new cold air intake and a new throtle body. If I do that is it worth the money to buy the typhoon?

well guestimation states that a new 75mm tb and plenum w/ a CAI can run you about 15 -25 hp gains. With the intake manifold, from what i understand, it can gain about another 20hp with a bone stock engine (spoke to a couple people about the issue, mechanics and so forth they told me the gains are good on a bone stock). Also if you ever think about going to the nos route the new manifold is good, not just with ported heads and so forth. I am purchasing it but I have nos thoughts in my future, if you plan of porting your heads and changing the pistons, or going nos some day it is not a bad idea.
