Default A quick cam question.???

If I were to get cams for an '03 GT would I need any special tuning? Or is it just a direct swap? And they would probably void my warinty wouldn't they? Any help would be much appriciated. Thanks.

Replacing cams would most likely void your warranty, but unless you got an extended warranty, you're real close to the 36 month time limit. Getting a tune would optimize the cam swap, but is not required. A dyno run with a wideband O2 sensor in the pipe would be just fine to make sure the ECU is putting in enough fuel.

i agree with bluestreak, always wanna get a tune just to play it safe too. it makes sure everything is running safe and it lets you get the most out of the mods.

When I bought the car three months ago I did get the extended waranty... so looks like I'll be spending my money on something else for now. The tuning that you were talknig about... Carn that be done with the diablo tuner?

Not sure about diablo but i know SCT can do mail order tunes bases on a database of hundreds and hundreds of dynoes and get your tune pretty damn close. I would imagine Diablo being pretty much similar.

There's a host of other mods you can do to the car that won't void your warranty. Just about any mods WON'T void it as long as the valve covers or intake manifold aren't removed to do the mods. Watch out for short throw shifters, some places will try to void the tranny warranty for those. Also if you're looking for a tune, get a handheld tuner instead of a chip. Some dealerships will look at the ECU anytime the car is brought in, just to see if a chip has been installed. It gives them an excuse to get out of the warranty.

Cool thanks a lot for the advice. The reason I was looking into cams is because I just got my exhast done and I wanted that rough ass idle to go with it.
