Default A/C cost in fuel and HP

Since the a/c in my car is dead (Condenser seems to be dead. It's still under warrenty, so it'll get fixed without costing me anything) I haven't been able to determine the impact the use of the a/c would have on my 2003 GT.

Anyone care to enlighten me on it, specifically the possible loss in HP and extra fuel consumption I would have to recon with?

TIA

When you go into low vacuum conditions the computer cuts off the AC compressor, so performance wise there is little impact from having the AC on. As for actual horsepower, its probably in the 3-5hp range.

Any extra fuel consumption I'd have to factor in then? Since it's appearantly required to have those things run atleast once a month, I'm just looking into how often I should indeed let it run, and if it will impact fuel consumption.

But thanks for that tidbit of info. It's appreciated.

If you only run it once a month to keep the seals conditioned its only necessary to let it run about 5 minutes. If you are running it while warming up and in low speed city traveling, I doubt there would be any noticeable loss of economy:thumbsup
