I recently read a thread about other mustang owners turning thier noses up when waved to or ignoring you all together. I decided to put this to the test where I live. For the last week as I drove around I waved to EVERY mustang I saw. I did get one wave back but she was a friend so I guess that really doesn't count.
So I don't get it. Not one person out of at least twenty waved or nodded back. Are they just oblivious to the world or just don't care?
Oh well whatever.

WELL, were not driving beetles with gay flowers on the dash.....so I wouldn't expect Muscle car drivers to be "friendly" in that manor.
I do not have any reason to "wave" at another driver......other than the 1 finger wave.....lol...
I would think most mustang driver that get waved at by another mustang driver will immediatly process "want to race" first then hello.....

There are so many Mustangs on the road, your wrist would get tired out.
Now, when I had the 68 Mustang and Couger, I'd get waves and thumbs-up from everybody Mustang Drivers, Harley riders, even the Sport Compact crowd. . . Sometimes I'd get flashed! I didn't have to go to KFC to see breasts . . .
They're a LOT more rare to see . . . Corvettes are rare, so are Porsches, Ferrari's, etc., So unless you've got a "trick"-pony I wouldn't expect waves any more than a Civic driver would.

I can see your point of view.
For me I guess, if someone was waving I would wave back. It might be someone I knew. And it's just common courtesy.
I do get a lot of looks from non-mustang owners. I just can't tell if it's the car they are looking at or the blonde driving it ..LOL
Oh well just an observation.

Around here V6ers don't tend to wave to GTs and 05-06 GTs don't tend to wave to the previous models. Classics wave back to everyone. Women Mustang drivers tend to wave back far less than men.

I think this sums it up pretty well. I expected a lot more "comrodery" so-to-speak when I bought mine, but soon after realized that there really is a lot of them on the road, not many of them enthusiests - just people that are driving a Mustang for the same of driving a Mustang.

I agree. That being the case, it is cool when you run across a Mustang driver that does feel some sense of comraderie. I have had this happen a few times, and here are my favorite examples:
1. Waiting to pull out into heavy traffic and not getting an opening anywhere until a NICE, black Mach 1 stopped and waved me out (I know it was because I was in my Mustang because he didn't stop to let anyone else out). I waved my thanks and a few miles up the road, when I pulled into the turning lane to turn left, we gave each other a rev (I like to call it the V8 salute) as he passed by me. I'm not always a nice guy about letting people out, especially if traffic is already heavy and I am in a hurry, but I do try to give extra consideration to other Mustang drivers.
2. Sitting in a mostly deserted parking lot at night, putting a CD in my player before I pulled out, I kept hearing the unmistakeable sound of a V8 revving through a nice exhaust. Looked around and saw a silver 94-98 GT that looked to be in pristine shape passing nearby me. As they passed, they gave another rev, not like a challenge to race - we couldn't possibly have raced in that part of town - but more like the V8 salute I mentioned earlier. I 'saluted' back as I pulled out and we went our seperate ways.
Such instances seem to only happen once for every 100 Mustangs I see - maybe less. Mustang owners do seem more likely to smile and rev than smile and wave, and why not, it seems more appropriate, somehow. Also, I think a lot of people in general, not just Mustang drivers, get caught up in what is going on with them and simply don't notice other people waving.
id have to say. the people around here dont even wave to me as i drive by ( 15 mph). they just stare at me and never wave. i dont mind the ladies looking, but atleast the other ppl could wave. everyone in my town thinks i sell drugs to afford my car. lol!!

US maybe... Here in NL they're a rare breed.
I would be inclined to wave back, however it's not happened to me yet, and sofar in the 4 months I've owned this Mustang, I've only seen 7 mustangs (of which I suspect 3 to be the exact same car). All too distanced to actually wave or verify anything.
I did have a few that actually gave me a thumbs up for driving a Mustang tho. Ofcourse they themselves drove a Volkswagen or were on foot, so I guess those don't count for this
I had a Mustang similar to mine pull up next to me at a light this morning. I nodded, he nodded back and we went our seperate ways, no revving or anything. There is also a sweet yellow Cobra I see quite often, he has waved before as well. Of course when the Procharger is installed and tuned, I wouldn't mind running him.
I always wave at a mustang or any good looking ride, even chevys, even Harleys. I think it's just a friendly way of saying 'nice ride'. A lot of people just look at my like I'm wacko but it's really neat when I get a wave or a thumbs up. I have an '06Tungsten GT with dark grey 10" pan to pan stripes so it's kind of out of the ordinary. I also have a '64 1/2 Galaxie 500 XL 429 that attracts a lot of thumbs ups and stares. It's really neat the see the reaction of a kid in an older mustang that he might be working on when I wave at him. It seems like if I wave at a woman in a Mustang she thinks I'm trying to flirt with her or something.
Keep on waving Mustang owners, it just might be a good way to seperate us from
"the rest of the pack".
Well a lot of times when someone waves I spend to much time looking to see if I know them when I see that I dont, their by me already. I get more stares then waves. A lot of people wave when I drive my jeep more than the stang. But I always try and wave back when I can, And I think people would rather you rev up then wave anyways.

I don't consider myself a snob at all. When I see someone wave, I always think they're waving at someone else. Unless they say something directly to me, I don't reply because I'd feel like a real horse's ass if they were waving at someone else.
