Hello again, Well I had to drop my 1 week old Mustang GT off at the shop today The problem is the idle and the drivers side window. The idle problem is as follows: when you come to a idle either from a long or short distance it idles fine at about 800 RPM but within 10 seconds it drops below 600 RPM's and starts to idle rough. It only did this every once in a while at first but now it does it all the time and the car only has 600 miles on it ! Has anyone else had this problem ? As for the drivers window it makes a horrible sound everytime it goes up or down. I still love my new GT and I hope this is just a fluke and can be worked out right away.

Well the dealer just called and they said that the idle problem is a know issue with the 02 5 spd GT's and that Ford is working on a fix for it. I asked how long he thought that it would take for the fix and he diden't know ?? Oh well I guess that I have to live with the rough idle for a little while but at least they did fix the window problem. Do any of you 5 spd GT owners have this problem with the rough idle ?

My driver side window didn't go up once so I made an appointment and when I got there the darn thing was working fine. Has not done it since.

Mine has about 700 miles on it and at times it seems like it wants to drop below 500 rpms especially after I get on it a little bit. I think I may check with a couple of the technicians I know at our local Ford dealer to see how many other inquiries they have had about this problem.
i couldnt of said it any better myself jeff. i had the same exact problem with my 02 gt five speed. (idling rough and the driver side window) my dealer said they couldnt find anything wrong with the idle!! also, what did they do to fix the window, they couldnt find anything wrong with that either, it makes this horrible screetch when going up and down. when you find out what the fix is for the idle, email me and let me know if you dont mind. sterlinator76@aol.com thanks, sterlin

My window makes the screech also. Luckily no problems with idle as of yet. I hope all stays well, because I really dont want to take all my mods off for something like the IAC valve or the like.

Hello all, The dealer told me that the window noise was due to the track and that they had to realign it and regrease it. It no longer makes that noise and as for the idle problem the dealer seems to think that Ford is aware of the problem but he did suggest that I keep on top of it and to keep checking to see when the problem has been fixed. He thinks that the fix will have to be programmed into the computer and he says that will take a little while. I will keep you updated on what I find out.

Haven't noticed the idle problem in mine. Nor with the window. After readig this post I'll probably either have both problems or think I have the problem. But, my GT was in the shop after a week because my power steering fluid was leaking. I needed to get a whole new power steering rack Well, they have replaced it and haven't noticed any leaks yet...but I am still checking.
Anybody notice your speakers going out? My driver's side tweeter cracks and sometimes has no sound. Mach 460 is crap, but then again, I didn't buy the car for the music
My window squeeks, too. I just thought it was the glass rubbing on the storm trim. Maybe when I take it in for the stereo, I'll get the window fixed, too.
No idle problems, though. Knock on wood. I seemed to have lucked out. I bought my GT in November, so maybe the first batch is okay.
I remember once or twice when my 01 was brand new that it idled rough, I thought it was going to stall. I just gave it a little gas and it was fine. Hasn't happened in a real long time, I have 18000 miles now. It runs great.
I do have a problem with my passenger window, it squeeks horribly. I just haven't gotten to the dealer to complain about it.
I have had a window problem, darn thing got stuck in the full down position, missed a full night of work, get this went into the garage the next morning to take it to the dealer and the it just started working??? Dealer can't fix what's not broken right? Had them note it in their computer just for future refs if needed.

yeah I have noticed a problem with my idle too... it seems aweful low, and my passenger tweeter sounds horrible, so I am taking it into the dealership tomorrow to have it fixed, only had the car for 3 weeks and it is having little problems too.

Mine idled rough like you said when it was new it has 9550 miles now and has gone away and runs smooth now. I love my car but it wasn't put together very well so the window noises dont surprise me. I have fixed a bunch of problems with my because I dont trust dealers.
