when i had a catback only i ran a 14.8, i had never driven a manual at track i had a 2.4 60ft after i figured out how to launch and a couple more bolt on si did 13.9 with a 2.2 60ft and no gears
the track is 490 feet above sea level. correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the vert only weigh 200 more lbs than the coupe? it does however amaze me that my car weighs 4500 lbs! its a damn boat! lol
I hope you really dont think your stang weighs 4500lbs, maybe you really mean 3500, I remember Car and Driver or Motor Trend they got 14.6 out of a stock Vert , and someone on this Forum ran 14.4 with less mods then you in a Vert !
Its alittle strange that your trap is 92.3 ,that is really low is ,your stang seems down on HP for some reason, the first time I ever ran my stang I hit 99mph , I dont think its your driving maybe you stang was really hot , are cars dont like the heat , about two weeks ago I ran a 14.7 because of the heat !
im sure on the weight, the door sticker says 4500 lbs. what i thought was weird is i ran faster at the 1/4 with no tuner, exhaust and old tires. when i ran at the track this time it was at night and only like 60-65 degrees out. i have to admit it does seem down on horsepower, but im not sure why. its been running good, but for the last few months it doesnt seem like it runs to it fullest! have no idea why though. what would affect the top speed so much? one time i ran slower times but faster mph.

my car weights 3580, with half a tank of gas,me,subwoofer system with 2 10s and amp + box, school books and misc stuff......
ur car doesnt weight more than 4000 lol...
are you torque brakeing the car? hold brake down and press gas to a certain RPM?
When you get your gears u should drop down some time. my friends V6 5speed coupe went 15.7 to 15.3 gears alone.

dude, i'll take a picture of the door sticker for you. its 4490 LBS!!!! its a vert, mustangs are heavy, i'm willing to bet your car easily weighs 3800 lbs, you must be mistaken. however of course im bringing it up to stall speed on launch, its like 1500 rpms though before the wheels start to spin on the line though, so its not like it does much of anything. yea im hoping gears will bring the time down quit a bit.

Ok, i dont care what the door says, thats probably weight of the car with all the fluids, and maxed out with people....... TOTAL Weight,
Believe it or not mustangs are not that heavy until they got to the 05+, mustangs are lighter than F-bodies and other sports cars except a vette or ricers....
I had my cars weight done at the city dump....... that is more accurate than a sticker on door. thats like if i said oh you weigh 160lbs and you get on scale and it reads 170lbs......
here i even took a picture of the sheet they printed out for me.....

You were looking at the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which is the maximum weight the car can safely handle. What you need to look for is the Base Curb Weight, which is the vehicle weight with all fluids (including gas) without driver and passangers.
As far as 1/8 mile times go, a 7.99 = 12.54 and a 7.64 = 12 flat. This is based on the conversion calculator on this site, so who knows how acurate it really is.
carguy, i apologize i was mistaken, i didnt even look to see that i was looking at the gvwr number. thats good to know cuz i thought that 4490 seemed on the heavy side. and thanks funkyboss for pointin that out to me! see i was just testin you guys! j/k lol.

Don't load the torque converter, flash it. In other words, don't stand on the gas for 10 seconds while staging. Try and get the timing on the tree right and figure out just when you need to floor the gas to get the RPM's to 1500 just as you get the green light. Also, are you shifting manually or letting the tranny shift itself? I've seen several instances where letting the tranny **** for itself (with a stock AOD-E) does better.

i'll try letting it shift on its own next time and see what it does. it just seems more fun to shift manually, after all i kick my self in the a$s everyday for not buyin a stick. would you only want to load the torque convertor if i had a higher stall speed? or would you wanna flash anyway?

For the best times (In my stang anyway) I do alittle burnout maybe for 5sec and thats it , come up to the line (shollow stage) rest your foot on the gas (dont torque brake) launch off idle , and shift it yourself just before it hits 6000grand and your stang will shift right at 6200rpms ,do the next for 2to3rd shift , the 2to3 shift is alittle harder to hit right because the rpm`s are going alot slower so you need to have alittle more patience , if you shift to soon it will shift itself at around 6000 grand , and you will lose some time, even if its just a little time , it all adds up at the end of the 1/4 !
Good luck next time, and get your stang checked out , 92.3 trap is not right for your stang !

with the tuner he will be able to adjust shift points so he wont have to shift manually....

man was i disapointed. i cant believe how slow my car is,lol. i ran a best of 14.99 @92.3mph. The car was launching hard with minimal spin (they had just vht'd the track), i was pulling 2.28 60 foot times, and i only beat this acura by a few car lenghts. My friends were gonna dis own me if that damn ricer had beat me! I always thought it would atleast run in the mid 14s, but i guess not.
With my 01 Vert Auto I run 14.4 97 mph. This is what I had at the time. Predator, 75 mm TB Dragon combo. JLT RAI,Nitto NT555R. One step colder motorcraft copper plugs. Now I have added Flowmaster 50's. Loading the torque converter up to 1,500 rpm works best for me. I'm still playing around with some adjustments with the Predator and feel I can still do a lot better. I will be changing over to 4.10 gears this winter.
