Default Went out to the dragstrip

man was i disapointed. i cant believe how slow my car is,lol. i ran a best of 14.99 @92.3mph. The car was launching hard with minimal spin (they had just vht'd the track), i was pulling 2.28 60 foot times, and i only beat this acura by a few car lenghts. My friends were gonna dis own me if that damn ricer had beat me! I always thought it would atleast run in the mid 14s, but i guess not.

`03stang , you had to put that Auto vs Stick in there LOL !

How high is the track you are running at ?

And it will take more then a few bolt-on`s and 3.73`s to get your heavy...er Vert in the high 13`s !

The bigger problem is that its a heavy vert.

the track is 490 feet above sea level. correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the vert only weigh 200 more lbs than the coupe? it does however amaze me that my car weighs 4500 lbs! its a damn boat! lol

200lbs is a lot of extra weight.
And if your running the 1/4 with the top down thats extra drag.

Try turning the TC off (if you have it.)
As well as turning OD off.

Compare the times, see if there is any difference.

hehe STICK FOR EVER lol.....

consider getting a shift kit and a tune to stiffen the shifting of your auto, 410s would have done more on a auto because of the tranny gearing, and are you torque braking the car?

not bad numbers.

remember ever ~100lbs = .1 on the 1/4 miles. Aswell as .1 off the 60 = .2 off the 1/4 mile.

do the math, if you can pull your 60ft to a 2.0 you would be at a mid 14....and maybe with better weather and what not a lower 14..... it all takes some practice. it took me for ever to run a 13.5 with my current set up, i was launching too hard to low..... you know.

keep at it and dont get discouraged.....
my friend matt, hes on n2s... he has a stock 04 GT with 5speed and he has only raced a few times and he is running low 15s hi 14s.... like i told him it takes time too...

p.s. just spent a tone of money on your car and run fast times =)

Just curious, what model was the Acura? 14.99 is a bit slow with the 3.73's, but as everyone said, it takes practice. Was this your first time out?

well i havnt got the gears yet, getting them in about 2 weeks. But i just dont see them getting me to into the low 14's, but maybe. i always turn off t/c, od, and have the top up. the acura was a 98 integra, with minor mods from what i could tell. ive been to the track lots of times, but this was my second time with the mustang. the first time out i pulled a best of 14.8, and that was with out a tuner and old tires.now i have a tuner, exhaust and newer better tires, and now im running slower? but with 3.73s and a sct tuner, do you guys think it possible to break the 13 second barrier?

Sorry, misread up top, I thought you already put the 3.73's in. I think you should be in the 13's after those mods, it's just a matter of getting used to your car and finding the right launch. I ran horribly my first time out with the procharger on. I'm getting retuned with a smaller pulley friday morning and I'll be heading to the track friday night, can't wait!

Too bad it's only 1/8 mile! I gotta hit the quarter one of these days. Hopefully I'll get in the 7's. I ran an 8.4 before I put the SC on so I don't know what was up last time I went, besides it being 100 degrees out.
