my cousin has an 04 cobra and my uncle has an LS2 05 gto... the goat got consistantly ate up by the cobra.. my ubncle got so mad, he went out and bought a turbo to keep up... up the goats rear wheel hp to about 500... but my cousin's tune, exhaust, and pulley change stil dominates... and the turbo whistle is ridicolously loud on the goat, you can literally hear it it a mile away... like a referee at a raider game

Its funny, when I started racing up at the drag strip I never realised how much the driver makes a differance.
I raced a GTO with a catback and CAI, when I only had my SLP LM1 on, and lost to him about a car length. If that.
But in my opinion a Cobra would take a GTO.

The thing is, the 4 valve motor in the cobras is a masterpiece. Mod for mod I don't think any other muscle car comes close from GM. A Cobra can sniff 400 rwhp with CAI and a good tune. Long story short the Cobra should walk the GTO at every category.

the cobra does have a blower...
dont get me wrong a stock cobra vs a stock gto with equal drivers will be embarrasing for the goat but ls motors are no joke
my roomate has an 02 6sp ss camaro with nothing but a catback that ive seen run a 12.9
back in the day (2003) i think it was motortreand that did this battle... the cobra out-preformed the GTO so bad they had to re-do the test VS. the mach 1 mustang. . . and the mach 1 STILL out preformed the goat. GTO's are very heavy and is no match for the cobras.
After 4 years of owning it, I finally coaxed my buddy into drag racing his '04 GTO this upcoming Sunday. I'll report back with his timeslips so we can inject some reality into this thread, though I have a feeling he'll drive it like a girl.

a lightly modded GT has no chance vs a LS1 (its a ls1 in the 04, ls2 in a 05-06)
260HP vs 250hp. "lightly modded", i assume, is much less than the 90hp difference, yes the GTO ways more, but LS1>2v 4.6
even the 05-09 is only 300HP vs 350, which still wont be close enough.
^What are you saying? The 05+ GT's are generally running the same times as the LS1 GTO's... You are not taking into account the weight of the cars. The GTO is like a small tank in terms of weight...
When I was at 373 hp and my friends ls1 gto with a STS turbo had about 400. I would always put 3-4 cars on him buy the end of fourth. A stock 04 cobra puys down about 370 stock so I think it would hand a stock GTO it's ass.
