Default Took the GTP to the track today, HIGHLY SUPER impressed

Well i took it to the track today. Track eleveation is about 900 feet, temp outside was about 60. I didnt even remove the spare tire and jack. Removed teh headlight and a few things from the trunk, ran on 92 octane and lowered the PSI on the front tires. First run

14.628@92.83 with a 2.09 60ft. This was right off the road, i wasnt expecting that at all!! That beat my stangs best time last year this time with a 14.69@94.37 with a 2.2 60ft. I know with some better traction the stang would have worked better and got better times but thats the best i got it with plenty of mods.

I let it cool down a bit and then ran a

14.72@92.95 with a 2.18 60ft

Then i let it cool down about an hour and went back out and ran

14.57@93.35 with a 2.10 60ft!!! I am totally impressed with this car. I figured i wouldnt push my luck since i gotta take it to NC next week and i left. With the few mods i plan it will be close to 13.9 if not better and thats a quick grocery getter!!! There were some bad ass stangs, my car sure didnt get the attention the stang used to get, but oh well. I will be there again with a stang one day, on 03.04 cobra!

What kind of GTP? The G6 or the Grand Prix?

I had a 99 GTP (2dr) with an S-ported M90 eaton blower (w/ 3.0 pulley), MAP intercooler and a fenderwell intake and was running low 13s. That 3.8 is a great engine. Too bad GM quit producing it.

no, that's only on the GXP models. The GT gets the s/c 3.8, and base model an N/A 3.8

We're working on a new smallblock for the GXP that will rock next year

So the 3.8 will live on? If so, that's great news. That engine can take a beating and is very mod friendly.
