Default I need Info on My 2002 Ford GT convertable Mustang !!!

Hey There,
I need Some Info on what to do about my 2002 GT Mustang.
I have it only about 3 months. My ex drove it off the freeway and bought after market parts and they for one dont fit and for two I dont think the cars stright anymore. The Driver door does not close anymore and most of the windows leak. The Tops great and so is the engine. Thats were this leaves me do i buy something eles that the engine will fit into if that would even work or try to fix this beast? Mustangs were his thing but he left it to me and i dont know what to do. A good friend of mine loves the 5.0 mustangs lke 80's I think would this engine fit one if I got an older one to fix up..Im looking to stay kinda cheep and not have to do a whole lot of work.. Or I might even just sell the car all together and see what i can get for it.. Yes I still owe the bank for it because my ex-husband didnt have Inc. and then he left for the Army and left me this damn Car...
Please someone tell me what you think...Im open for anything right now..

Welcome to the forum. I would say have it looked at by a reputable shop and decide from there. They car is worth some good money, and fixing it probably is the way to go. The door/window seals could be fixed by someone very inexpensively.

BTW, be careful about saying damn car, they can hear you.....

Sounds like the body is all twisted up and without insurance, your screwed. Either find a good straight body to swap the motor/tranny or sell the car for parts and start fresh. Either way, get a quote from a reputable shop first.

Could be he just bolted things back together without shims or anything. Before you make any decisions, take it to a shop and have them give you a detailed quote for what work needs to be done and how much each part of it will cost.

Oh, and welcome to the Forum.

First off, welcome!

Second...

Take it to a body shop, and have them look at it- a good reputable shop should be able to do one of two things-

1. Fix the body (may or may not be cheap).

2. Have them remove the engine, and tranny, and put them into a different Mustang.

It also helps if you have your dad, brother, other male there to chat up the body guys- they're not always up front with women the way they are with men (no gender bending going on here).

I own a 2002 gt vert,That was in a major reck. I bought it on ebay and had a real good shop straighten it out,It even has a salvage title. My drivers side door has to be closed a lilltle harder then your average door but who gives a ****...The car runs like a beast and looks like new.I just started to have some problems with my front bumper cover with the paint peeling in the corners. So I just bought the 04 cobra front bumper and hood. You have a sweet ride, sink a few bucks into it, you will be happy. As long as the motor trans rear are in tact you shouldn't spend that much greens....Make sure you get more then one shops advice.Get it driving right and then you could start on the cosmetics etc........

Find a good body shop with an experienced frame guy. They can put the car on the frame rack a check it for square - which it obviously is not. I am experienced with these things, and I'll predict:

1. The unibody is warped
2. The unibody is fixable without too much trouble
3. They will have to remove most (probably all) of the parts you guy put on and reinstall them - AFTER they straighten the car
4. You may STILL have a problem with some of the aftermarket parts (hard to judge whether the parts are good or not on a bent car)
5. If you can get the car fixed, it will probably run and drive just fine

best of luck!
