Hi everybody, I got the feeling that my mustang has something in it that I don’t know. The thing is that my friend just bought a 03 5speed Gt and we were kind of driving the car a little bit hard and even racing a little bit and he couldn’t keep up with me. I thought that all the gts spin the wheels at 2nd, his does that. However not as hard as mine and I got an auto. I just got a CAI and flow masters 40 series in the car. But I don’t know what the previous owner did to it. So my question is. Is it normal for a 2000 Gt with approx 47500 mileages on it to loose traction a lot? Any clue will be appreciated. Thanks

tires arent bald, right? i know right now if i punch it in mine i get loose in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd, but its not because i have that much power, its cuz my tires a little old. could be that the previous owner had it tuned, or had gears installed. can you contact the old owner to ask?

Check the rear-end gear ratio. Jack the rear up and mark the tire and driveshaft with caulk of something. With the tranny in neutral and the e-brake off, turn the tire one revolution and count how many times the drive-shaft turns. 3 1/4 turns = stock gear, 3 3/4 turns = 3.73 gear, and just over 4 turns = 4.10's.

The tires are new but I did notice that the differential look kind of new to me. The guy who sold me car is a friend of mine and he told me that he wanted the car but he already has Mustang gt. The only thing he told was that the previous owner only uses it during the weekends and was a old guy (no offence to anyone here) other than that he didn’t mention anything about any upgrade. Any ways whatever it has is making the car a lot faster I will put some other parts in the car and I would love to get some # lol. It’s definitely pushing more than my friend’s gt. yea surprises like that are nice. I got my 02 GT last feb and it didnt sound stock to me so when i got home i crawled under the back to find out who ever had the car before me had a Borla cat back system. Made me very happy cuz i saved about $700. Good luck with the car and merry xmas to u too.

I would put my money on the fact that either yours have some gears in it

when i checked mine out at the dealer had bassani x pipe and flowmaster 40 series weldins....


check the rear end ratio...
