If you wonder how much taller a tire is to another use this.

245/75r17

245 x 45% = 110.25 (sidewall height in mm)
110.25 divided by 25.4(mm in 1 inch) = 4.34(sidewall in inches)
4.34 x 2 (double sidewall) = 8.68
8.68 + 17 (rim size) = 25.68 overall diameter

You can use this formula for any tire size

275/40r17 = 25.66 overall diameter

315/35r17 = 25.68 overall diameter

If you go into the gear calculator on the top where Tech section is there is a calculator that shows your tire size affects your supposed final gear ratio.

for example i had 3.27 and a 245/45 17 tires

then i put a 255/40/17 in the rear and the gear ratio is 3.19

how does tire width(not really height) afffect the gear ratio ?
