2003 Mustang Gt Needs Better Exhaust Tone! Which Mufflers to get?
I am about to purchase some mufflers to weld in place of my stock ones. I have owned Flows before but I want a louder deeper tone. Is anyone running Flowpath mufflers? Also what others do you recommend?

My opinion , take off the catalyics and get flowmaster 40 series , instead of putting on exhaust tips cut it all the way down to the muffler flat . My mufflers came off and dragged down the road causing it to close up halfway , I had no choice but to buy new ones or cut the ends all the way down, so I cut them to the muffler, I came across this on accident but im glad ,my car was not even deep at all till I cut it all the way down now you can hear it at least 2 1/2 miles down the road !
i have an 03 GT also , i am running off x pipes, flowmaster 40 series,& 4" tips every body is always asking me what kind of exhaust do i have
they say that it sound so bad ass, and love it too.
I was thinking about just getting an o/r h pipe and swapping it out for stock. Then just leave the stock system from mufflers on back alone. It should sound pretty good. I think the stock mufflers sound nice and deep as it is. I just want it louder and more pronounced. This should make for an easy driveway do it yourself job as well. This would only run me $200 or less. I don't like the idea of leaving my exhaust cut off at the mufflers. The interior sound and smell would be too much for comfort.

umm....don't do what this guy says.
Nothing worse looking than a stang without tailpipes. and don't take off the cats. you can still make the car loud and still keep it legal.
If you want to be loud and get some good power, get yourself the SLP Loudmouth catback. It's plenty loud, and if you replace the h-pipe with a better high flowing catted pipe, it'll be even better. I wish I woulda gone with the SLP system after hearing it on another 4.6.

if you decide on getting a mid pipe and want flows again a have a pair of original 2 chamber 40's series for cheap- i need to get rid of them but id feel bad if i threw them out knowing somewhere there is a stock gt that lacks a good tone.

I thought about taking off the magnaflow cats I have to go with my 40 series flows...
Two things...getting pulled over for noise pollution and make sure you don't live in an area that does emissions testing...screws with emissions and you probably wont pass.

by the way, i have an x-pipe set up with magnaflows and flowmasters...i get a ton of compliments on the sound...heard you can go with an h-pipe instead for even a more intense sound.

if you can afford it, bassani sounds very nice, aswell as borla and magnaflows.
I second that. I am running the catted magnaflow x and borla cat back and love it. The sound is very deep and throaty. Everyone else seems to love the sound as well. A bit pricey tho so you gotta search ebay for some deals.

The Mac Flowpath's give a 4.6 a very nice low rumble at idle and light throttle. Get into it heavy with your right foot and it gets downright raucous. Get a catted H-pipe to go with that and it's the perfect muscle car sound.

Here's vid a bud from Canada did for. I run SLP 1 and Magnaflow Catted X. A different sound that really turns heads. No WOT shots since the only time I'm behind the wheel is tha stationary shots. My wife and daughter are behind the wheel in the highway shots.
