Will a 1982 5sp transmission fit a 1997 SOHC engine?
i guess i should ask if it will bolt on to the engine, i need it for a 427 shelby cobra
project so the mounts don't need to match

nope, the bellhousings are different. the 82 uses the t-5, 97 uses the t-45. if i remember right, the t-5 and the t-45 use the same input shaft, so maybe if you a find a bellhousing that lets the t-5 mate to the modular sohc block it might work. i would try calling tremec

thanks, you're right, they suggested selling it and getting a '98 T45

know anyone that wants a '82 T5 for about $400 bucks???

it's not an 82...83 was the first 5 speed, the 82 used a SROD

Hey I have a 98 t-45 I'll sell you. It has a tri-ax shifter on it.
