Question 1998 Mustang with 2004 Cobra IRS. Which springs to get?

need a little help and input guys.
i have a 98 GT and i will be installing an 04 IRS unit within the next month. since i currently have no-name springs (bought them with the car) i thought this would be a good time to change them out. only question is, what springs are good for the irs equiped cars? at the same time i will be installing 03/04 cobra front control arms. i am more interested in the handling than comfort, but since this is a daily driver i dont want extreme performance and no ride comfort. suspension will include:
irs rear w/tokico d-spec
stock front w/tokico d-spec
stock size sway bars (will be getting 04 cobra front sway bar as well)
i dont want an agressive drop either, maybe about 1.5" total. i was looking at some, but they seem to be more for comfort and looks than anything else.
also, can someone tell me what a good spring rate for the rear would be? the live axles are supposed to be good with around 250ish, but ive seen some for the irs as high as 570 ???
the car will see its fair share of road racing/drifting with little drag racing.
thanks in advance!

Are you planning on getting lowering springs? How low are you wanting to go?

are you looking at the maximum motorsports site for that 570 spec? if you are those rates are for coilovers. check out eibach, they make springs for everyone.

Don't do it! You are wasting $4 and ruining your car. Those IRS 04 suspensions suck ass and break a lot. Also they caused shitloads of wheel hop. Your gonna regret it. You may get a slight increase in handeling (turns only)but your launches will always suck compared to a Axled car.

DON'T DO IT.

haha, thats exactly why im doing it. my car is good at straigt line races, but sucks in the twisties. and from what ive read, the reason these IRS units break is because the cobras are pushing upwards of 550rwhp, so im not surprised that they would break. i, on the other hand, dont plan on pushing out more than 300-350rwhp. and as for wheel hop, ill work on that one later. im pretty sure i can avoid it. and i plan on keeping the solid axle, just in case i ever want to switch back.

yeah, i think thats where i got that 570 rating. ive actually looked at a lot of places, but no one really tells you the spring rate at all, they just tell you how much it drops the car. i went to my local shop and they recomended vogtland springs, but that was the 1st time i heard of those. they said they are a little better than the eibach. what about steeda?

never heard of vogtland springs either, but i bet eibach makes them and they put the name on them. i think eibach makes steeda springs too. the companies i would go with are ford racing, maximum motorsports, eibach, steeda, or saleen.

actually i was looking at their website (vogtland), and apparently its a european company (germany, i think). i was thinking of going with fordracing springs as they are relatively cheap and have good spring ratings, and more importantly they arent progressive rate. saleen ive heard have really good springs too, but they dont make it for the IRS. thanks for your help lxarlo!
