Without being blown, With a good CAI, engine and tranny program, 410's, good axle-backs, and some good rubber, how close can the 2006 GT come to matching the base corvette in acceleration? I know a lot of it comes down to driver / launch, but given equal drivers what do you think? Respectably close?
Okay, the stock C6 corvette runs like a mid-high 12 second quarter mile with a good driver, you're talking stock cobra territory there. You have to realize the power you're making is on par with the old LT1 vette, and it's got the weight advantage... you'll get walked.

I agree with everyone else. Unless you put your car on a major diet and dive into your motor, heads, cams, etc. I don't think you will be able to match the Vette. That is if you want to match it without the aid of a power adder.
I agree with everyone, However, besdies bolt-ons, what else can you do to shed weight besides removing the back seat?
depends on how expensive you wanna go. i know you can get light weight body parts (carbon fiber hoods, decklid, etc..). rims are rather heavy, they do make super light weigth ones for the mustang. i saw a ricer one time completely gut his honda station wagon thing ( i mean completely, door panels, head liner , you name it, then turn around and reinstall it before he left the track). all the little things add up too.

they made a stock sentra run 13's by stripping it down to the frame, firewall, engine, and dash with one seat. Weight is a very important thing overlooked...
Still, you'd have to have a pretty built s197 to compete with that C6... it's a mean beast... and that's just lining up with it... don't even think about trying to catch one in the twisties
