Default Tire/Wheel Picture Request

ok, its about time for me to get new tires (just noticed the rear passanger tire is past the treadwear marks, drivers side is still a little above), and i want to get either 275/40/17 or 255/40/17. i really want to get the 275 series, but i dont want the tire to bulge too much. for now i will be buying the rear two tires only (fronts are still semi-ok) because i want to see how much they bulge out before i decide if i want 255 or 275 in the front. i have 95 cobra r wheels right now. any one that has pictures of any 17x9 wheel with either the 255 tires or the 275 tires, would you mind either posting them up here or emailing them to me at reivaxtorres@aol.com?

my main worry is that they will stick too far out of the fenders and look horrible, or bulge past the rim profile and compromise the handling too much (sidewall flex...). right now the wheel kinda sticks out a little in the front, and for the rears, i have a little room to work with but not too much, as the IRS pushes the wheels out a little farther than the sn95 solid axle did. currently have 245/45/17 tires all the way around and they fit on the rims, but they are too narrow and you can tell. i would rather not get the staggered look with 255 in the front and 275s in the back (i like to rotate them), but like i said i dont want the fronts to stick out either. anything you guys can provide would be good.

thanks again,
xavier

not really... but i can assure you that a 9 inch wide wheel is good with a 275/40 it is actually recommended to have i think at least a 255 and at most 295 if i remember right. i had to go through all of this when i bought my rims and stuff

yeah, i had just bought the wheels not even a year before i had to get the cobra r wheels, so since they were still rather new and i didnt feel like spending another $1k on tires, i just threw those on the 9" wheel. i really liked those bullitt rims too, they looked awesome on my car

i just want to make sure it doesnt bulge out too much. as for the fronts...do yours stick out a little too or is it just mine?

mine, as far as i can tell, fit perfectly. no bulge or anything. i was actually recommended the 275/40 for the front because i guess for that rim size that is the best size tire to go with.

yours shouldnt stick out really at all. maybe a tiny bit but it wont be anything excessive or anything you will need to worry about.

oh, no, i meant the wheel/tire combo, does it sit flush with the fender or does it stick out a little?

EDIT: haha, stupid me. i was looking at your profile and the avitar, i didnt even think of going to your photo gallery. just saw the tires you have on there, they dont look as bad as i thought they would. you said you have 275s up front, right? no rubbing or anything? and what size do you have in the back (and what kind of tires do you have)? they pretty sweet...

if you are going to put a 275/40/17 into a 17x9 wheel you will not have any bulges....

notice the small bulge on a 275/40 on a stock 17x8 bullitt wheel before i got my deep dish wheels.

p.s. orange mustang in last pic has a 245/45/17 stock tire note the bigger view ....

it sits pretty flush. but if you are worried about it hitting the fender i have never bottomed mine out into the fender well and a buddy of mine has the same set up and he doesnt have any problems with his either. you will be fine with a 275 trust me... is your car lowered though? if so how much? because mine isnt lowered either so it could sit different than yours if yours is. if that is the case though just talk to somebody who has there car lowered and has bigger tires. but like i said... never had any problems with mine whatsoever

yeah carguy1985, thats exactly what i didnt want...but those are on 17x8 wheels, the 17x9s should look fine. i think i will go with 275s just as soon as i find the tire i like.

nope, not lowered right now. it had 2" lowering springs but i took them out and got stock cobra springs...now i want to lower it again, im not digging the 4x4 look...tho it is nice to not scrape on ever pebble i run over
and not really worried about hitting the fender...that actually never crossed my mind. im worried about it sticking out too much and making it look "paisa" (aka mexican ghetto)

EDIT: carguy, i just saw the new pics you posted, and the bulge doesnt seem too bad, only when you look at it from the side. i think im sold on the 275s for the rear
