I am thinking about getting a Mach1 that is at my local Ford dealer right now, but I have been reading some bad things about the engines having various problems. I was also thinking about getting a GT and putting a Kenne Bell on it. The thing is, if I get the Mach1 I will not be able to do big mods because of the cost of the car itself. If a get the GT it will leave me some room to play with mods. Not sure, need help deciding. Also the Mach1 is a 2003, automatic, Borla exhaust(catback), wider wheels on the back but still the Mach1 wheels and C&L inlet tube. Not sure if there is anything else. They are asking $21999. I think that is way to high. People are selling them in the 18s. Any thoughts.
hey a mach1 you get better motor, rearend has 3.55 gear vs 3.27, brakes are better and so are the suspension. seats are also different.... mach will start you off with more power.

What about the "TICK" issue I have been reading about? Do all Mach1s have the potential for this issue or is it something caused by the owners. I just dont want to spend the money and have nice car sitting in my driveway with a blown engine.
+1. not too sure how much they go for now a days, but i plan on getting one too eventually, maybe within the next year or so. and yes, the mach1 will start you off with a better platform than a GT will. i havent heard anything about the "tick", so cant help you there.

Yea my friends Mach has "the tick". The Mach's are nice, they rev higher than a GT which is nice (GT=5700 Mach=6700 i believe) but if i had to choose between a stock Mach 1 and a Kenne Bell GT... sry gotta go w. the Boosted GT.

boosted gt's are definetly nice but so is haveing such a beautiful car such as the mach 1. it's only a choice you can make...22k is definetly to much. if you look around most mach 1's are going for about 18k

I have had both, an auto and a 5spd. I prefer an auto. My AOD 89GT used to shift very fast and very hard. I liked having that option when I wanted it and also be able to just cruise around comfortably when I wanted.
