Stock C5 vettes have 350 horsepower at the crank. A stock Cobra 390+ in most cases at the crank. So stock for stock the vette would win in a drag race?

The '98 Vette put out 345/350. Although it will outhandle the Cobra, it's not outpowering it. Now power to weight ratio may equal things out a bit, but the Cobra will still take it in a straight line.

O.k., that being stated by funky, I stand corrected on my statement about the vette outpowering the cobra....still doesn't change the fact that I would take the vette over that cobra any day. I'm still not satisifed beyond a reasonable doubt that the vette wouldn't win the drag race though. I think the power to weight ratio is in favor of the vette. Besides that, for a small amount of money for mods, the LS engine will outpull most anything out there.

ok... i have been watching this thread for a while now and not said anything... but i cant take it anymore...

want some advice that you wont regret? buy the cobra. its a better car in every single aspect. the cobra will outperform it in every way shape and form. not even the mighty ls1 motor can compare to a blown 4.6 that will make 150+ hp with just exhaust a pulley and tune. even stock, the cobra will outrun it. those old vettes were good for about a mid 13 off the lot and the cobra is good for a high 12.

buy the cobra. case closed.

Cobra's are sweet cars but I would have to say go for the vette also. If some of us mustang guys like the vette that pretty much says it all, but I do think the cobra is allot better looking.

im not biased. anybody who is on here frequently knows that i am a huge fan of ls1's. they are an awesome motor. but they are nothing compared to a 03 04 RM... simple fact, the cobra is a better car is every way.

Ouch, that's a tough one...

The Cobra would be a better Semi-DD car while the Corvette would be a weekend car.

The Vette will be faster stock, but the Cobra could blow its doors off for less.

The Vette is VERY expensive to maintain (I know from experience)
The Cobra is a little less

Both get great gas mileage. Seriously. 22 highway

Cool

I with cobraboy on this one. I am getting a feeling from some of the post.... from some of you guys.... that if you could afford a vette you would be in one?

Man, I do not have a lot of money but I do drive what I want. I could drive around in a used vette, but my cobra rides better, and more is reasonable than a vette, and I am cool and look good in anything! HA HA!!

Go with the mustang, if you have to ask then it probably does not matter to ya anyway. I will be the one behind you, holding the horn down and saying "give that vette some gas and get the hell out of the way!" HAHA!!

dawrr you are awesome and i love you like a brother....

but you are WRONG. haha... the vette does a 13.3 1/4 mile stock while the cobra will do a 12.7... it is not even comparable.

the cobra is a better car in general. im sorry but its true.

NOW... if you were talking about like say a 03 04 z06? i would say get the vette. but we are talking about a 98 c5... NOT worth the money when compared to the cobra. the cobra will outdo it in every single catagory. i am starting to wonder why there is even a thread about this. people are misinformed about the vette and most the people posting in this thread are evidence of that. it is NOT FASTER STOCK than a cobra...
