Hey everyone! I'm aware that the opinions here will be biased, but I would like some insight into the two. I have yet to drive a 03 Cobra, but I have driven a couple of C5's. Perhaps there are owners from both sides! Thanks!
I'd go for the Cobra. They each have their advantages and I'm sure some will say the Vette is built much better, but the Cobra is 5 years newer and will gain more for less. A pulley swap and a tune will put you around 450+ rwhp.
Thanks for the replies guys! Each one has there pros and cons. With the Cobra, I think it will be a more practical car and will be a lot newer with less km's. As far as looks go, both are beautiful, but the Vette is one sexy beast! There is something about the cobra that screams "monster", lol!
Go for the terminator; it's iconic of what Ford can be. Street cred by the folks who know is also a factor. Termies are also starting to APPRECIATE in value. Case in point, you said 03 Cobra and I spotted immediately what value in Mustangs you were looking at... you said 98 vette and I'm thinking, "What's so special about a 1998 Corvette?"

I think it would be bad when you get smoked by a 7 year old cinder block!
You can also get 450rwhp with a pretty simple heads/cam combo on the vette. Then add some nitrous to it. You dont see as many vette's on the road as cobra's. I dont really think of the cobra's as special anymore because I see them all the time.

Well the vette has no back seat. Fairly equal in the amount of car you get for your dollar, but the Cobra is no slouch because it is a 4 seater and heavier than the vette. On this forum what did you expect? Now if you had said C6 then I would have said screw the back seat get the vette.

I like both, although I'd go for the Cobra. I think it's sad when I see a Corvette and a little old lady is driving it at a putt-putt pace or a middle age 50 year old guy in a mid life crisis with Crissy the 22 year old Blonde in the other seat and golf clubs in the joke of a trunk. Still going at a putt-putt pace. Not that all Corvette owners are like that, but they are in my area so maybe that image of the Corvette aids in my decision.

that is true about all old men driving vette's. I know a couple that are younger men around mid 30 that race vette's one is twin turbo'd, but other then that I see all old men/woman. The cobra is about at it's limit's around 450 rwhp with the stock eaton "unported" and no headers. I have saw a lot around 430 rwhp with CAI, exhaust, pulley, and tune. i guess it matters what your overall goal is. If you are going to keep them mostly stock then I say corvette, but if you want around 450rwhp then the cobra would be cheaper to get thier without nitrous coming into factor. If you where going to road race I am sure the vette would be better and the IRS is better in the vette plus better weight distribution.

IMO this is 2 distinctly different classes of cars, each great in their own right. I don't think you can compare a mustang to a vette. I know this is a mustang forum and being an owner of mustangs this is going to be shocking but I would go for the vette in a heartbeat(no pun intended ).
While the cobra is great in it's own right, the vette is in a different/higher class of vehicle. It outpowers and outhandles the cobra hands down(stock vs. stock). The only dis-advantage with the vette is no backseat.
Go with PI heads and quit watching The Fast and the Furious. (thanks 2 IhaveadopeGT)
Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.
