Hands down Bassani!!

When I was trying to decide on an exhaust system I took a trip to my local speed shop, All Mustang Performance (www.ampperformance.com), and asked them what they thought. Jason proceeded to school me on exhaust and took me for a ride in his 2001 GT with Bassani Cats and O/R X-Pipe. That ride about shattered my teeth, then he proceeded to give me a ride in a 2001 SVT S/C (Novi 3000) and I was hooked. There is nothing that sounds quite like Bassani, just plain nasty. You can always tell a Bassani system

Some draw backs are that it is a bit costly but you will notice the quallity during installation. Also, nobody wants to race. However, when I cruise through the parking garage at work there isn't a car alarm not left chirping.

I was also able to install the system myself using common hand tools and with minimum tweeking was able to allign the rear tailpipes. Installation took half a day.

The pipes feature a 3 1/2 inch polished tip that runs deep under the car (looks good from the side) and I believe 2 1/2 inches to the glass packs.

If you decide to go with this system call AMP don't order online they will give you a better deal. They're price was almost $75 less than the best price I could find.

What kind of sound you lookin for Xero? There are a lot out there, Borla, Flowmaster, MagnaFlow, Dynomax, etc (as far as mufflers). Then there are a variety of H-pipes and some X pipes, both have different sound. You want to keep the cats or lose them? Just some things to think about. I have Flowmaster and I love it. It is kind of cliche I guess, but for me there is nothing like the rumble and drone of Flows. No arguing though, Bassani makes VERY good products.

Well, so far I hear nothing but great things about Bassani. Plus I know a lot of people have them from looking at everyone's signature

But I guess to answer your question, I'm looking for both sound and performance, but more towards performance.

What kind of gains does Bassani produce? Compared to Flowmaster? I was originally gonna go with Flowmaster until I started looking around message boards and such and heard about Bassani. Please excuse my "newb" questions

I like the sound of Dynomax exhaust and on my car they dont drone at 2000 rpm. I dont see the HP difference between performance mufflers as that great. X-pipes will make more HP than a H-pipe. IMO get an X-pipe and the muffler that sounds best to you. There is a web site that has recordings of all the different mufflers if I can remember the URL i'll post it here.

Edit added the remembered URL.

I like the sound of the Bassani on the 4.6 cars, Thats what I'm putting on this winter. I run Flowmaster on my Mach1 and my buddys 88 5.0 and it sounds great, but 4.6 has a different sound. My speed shop really pushed the Bassani for making power. Good Luck deciding it took me 6 months to make up my mind

I suggest locating a Mustang club in your area. Visit with other Mustang owners and listen to the sound of the different types of exhausts. This way you can make the right choice for you. Just about every Mustang I've heard with modified exhaust sounds great.

For me the choice was Flowmaster 40's on my 2002 GT. I heard another 2002 GT with 40's and loved the deep bassy tone.

Performance increase? All I can say is it feels and sounds like there is an increase.

I agree with Mike.

Check out some different exhaust set-ups, live.
I went with FLOWMASTER too.
