First, are you planning to do the labor yourself? If not, you are short of cash and need to make some priority choices.
That aside, which Comp Cams are you picking for your build? Allow some extra cash for new beehive springs and retainers if you are going for really big cams.
The intakes out there start with the typhoon for about $500, but yes, it will only add maybe 15 hp.
You aren't going to beat the built LT's with just a head-cam swap, but you CAN get a lot more competitive than you are now.

Or do I go with an Teksid DOHC build up. |
