Default 1999-2004 Mustang GT Gas mileage question

1. How large is the factory fuel tank?
2. How many miles should I get to a full tank with just a BBK CAI. with an auto??
3. Does a BBK CAI require a custom Flash with a handheld?

Just around 15 gallons give or take a little for the untold "reserve" fuel

I'm getting maybr 160 miles to a tank but I'm not sure my tank holds 15 gallons...It was on 1/4 tank and it took 9 gallons...WTF could be wrong with this car

Mileage is one of those jpersonal things. Drive hard, and mileage dies.

Assuming you never jack rabbit the car (which would make you the only GT owner on the planet who drives this way), you can get about 300 miles per tank in mixed city-highway driving.

If you drive her hard and never leave an urban driving environment, with an AOD, you will get more like 200 miles per tank.

State of tune and condition have a lot to do with this. Get the car tuned properly, and the tranny checked over, and make sure the brakes aren't scrubbing...

And you've done your job.

A simple CAI CAN cause you to run lean. This should be something to check during a thorough and expert tune up.

02 GT with K&N CAI, and 5sp manual, mostly city driving (80% of the time I think): Average of 20.8 MPG.

Every now and then she gets a little kick on the pedal just to have some fun and prevent her from getting lazy

I have gotten her to do 30.3 MPG once... But that was highway driving, fair weather, and a cruisecontrol on 75 MPH Haven't managed to replicate that anymore tho.

As to the tank capacity: 15.7 US gallons / 59.42 liters (straight from a fact-sheet) on this page: 2003 Ford Mustang Review, Prices, Photos: New Car Test Drive

15.7 gal tank, you should get slightly better fuel economy with your CAI but not much, it depends on how you drive. i'd say about 13-18mpg depending on your driving habbits so what is that 204-283mp tank? correct me if i'm wrong on the math.

edit: you shouldnt need a tune for just a cold air intake unless your change the maf aswell, i also didnt see the "auto". as far as i know the factory sets the best shiftpoints for fuel economy so maybe about 15-20mpg depending on your driving habbits

I found out that when I drive 80 mph on the highway I get better mileage then driving 75 mph and less. I don't recall what I get for mileage due not to driving my baby for over 7 months because I'm Iraq right now.
