I'm about to do an engine swap. I have a 2000 mustang gt and I want to know if I'll have any problems putiting an 04 engine in. Will the ecu glitch out if I put a newer engine on? Will my wiring harness work for this one? Any help would be awesome I'm trying to get this stang back up and running
As long as the original wiring harness and fuel injectors are used the PCM won't be able to tell the difference.
The 2000 GT originally left the factory with a Windsor motor. The 2004 has a Romeo. There are differences in the block that do need to be accounted for. Research Windsor to Romeo swap. Plenty of people have done it (including myself).
