1997 Gt (auto) Transmission Question for 4.10 Gear Install
I am taking my car into a transmission shop tomorrow. I am planning on getting a trans flush and diagnostic done before I get my 4.10's put in. I am wondering what else I should have done while there to get my transmission running a bit better. I notice some minor problems every now and then. About once a month my overdrive light starts blinking for a few seconds and then stops.
But should I get a transmission cooler while there? anything else you can think of that will improve the durability of the trans before the new gears?

You need to do some thinking about how you are going to use the new gears.
If you're planning some trips to the strip, you need a stall converter, J-valve, and yes, a tranny cooler helps.
If you have been getting warnings from your tranny, make sure the shop gives it a thorough exam. If its already badly worn, it won't like those strong gears very much!
You're also going to need to correct for the gears with your computer, else your speedo will start lying to you.

that cooler will work fine, if your tranny does go the rebuild should not be that bad if you pull it and put it back in. there is guys in my area that will rebuild them for 400.00 as long as its pulled and taken to them.
