When I installed mine the directions told me to just back them off because our trannies have internal stops. I adjusted mine just because they were there and I figured I would use them. Put it in 3rd. screw the stop in until it hits the stick. then back it out so there is about 1/16th" of space and lock it down. I really won't do anything, because of the internal stops, but I figured that I might as well set them. Thats what I did, by the way, you'll LOVE this shifter!!

The way to set them was stated correctly above, but I would still set the stops. The stock shifter is a lot "nicer" on the tranny stops, as the STS doesn't have rubber connecting the handle to the shifter like the stock one does, so it will punch a lot harder on your trans.

here is a good artical with good photos: TopLine Short Throw Shifter Install - Ford Mustang | StangNet.com

Thanks,
