Default T5

The T45 you already have in there is pretty much a modified T5.

Here's a site with lots of data about the T45 and their version, which is a T45R.

http://www.keislerauto.com/index.php...emart&Itemid=7

This info might help your decision.

OK, if the T5 is 83-89 vintage it might not be a WC (those came later, 1990+). If you have just the old 265 foot pound torque item, don't put in behind your 4.6 - its too weak to handle the load. I would think you also need the long input shaft model, not the short one, plus of course the correct bell housing (seperate with the T5, and again it came in 2 different types for the 5.0's, and 1 for the 3.8). BTW, LOTS of 3.8 T5's out there, and not necessarily all World Class rated. (NOTE: Look for a neutral safety switch, the 93-95 models won't have one, and should have the longer input shafts and correct size bell housings).

Contact these guys, who specialize in such swaps:

Modern Driveline - 5 speed Transmission Swap - T5 and TREMEC TKO conversions for Mustang, Falcon, Cougar, HotRod, Cobra

I know they offer complete kits to put a Tremec behind a 4.6. Perhaps they have what you need.

Default Data

OK, just heard from both Driveline and Keisler.

Both sell a steel bellhousing that will do the trick for about $400.

The T5 bellhousings for the 5.0 are incompatible with the 4.6.

Swapping in a custom length driveshaft and a 28 spline slip yoke is needed as well.

Seems like a lot of trouble and expense to go through to utilize a T5, imo.

Nice people at Driveline and Keisler.
