got a 2002 2v gt with 58000 miles and 5 speed.wife says i got 1500 dollars to spend on hot rod parts.where do i start?i would like to keep killer low end power if possible.doing instalations myself.thanks
What all is done to it already? If its stock, first thing should be exhaust work to get it sounding right with a little bit more power, then a cai with a tune followed by some gears. This will help your ride to breathe better and get some more power, and with w/e gears ya go with will help throw ya back in the seat. Then if anything left subframe connectors are great for these cars/

if you really wanna get a lot for your money get 4.10 gears, pypes violator catback, pypes o/r x, tuner, k&n drop in with silencer removed, subframe connectors, steeda short shifter, and lowering springs. that is 12 over your 1500 budget for parts. dont waste your money on a cold air intake. removing the silencer and adding a k&n will do the exact same duty as the intake. they are more for looks in my opinion.
here's your breakdown for parts. i took the time to go on americanmuscle and tally it up for you. note this price is with the discount code that saved you almost 100 dollars.
diablosport tuner/4.10s/gear oil set $540
pypes violator catback $470
pypes off road x pipe $180
maximum motorsports subframe connectors $140
frpp c springs $160
high performance air filter $40
steeda triax short shifter $180
grand total $1,512.25

That's a pretty nice use of $1500, but won't he need bearings and races for the gears, and caster/camber plates for the lowering, possibly a bumpsteer kit?

yea. racin your right but caster camber and bumpsteer arnt essential needs though. i would go with slp and an o/r H. i dont like pypes exhaust but the exhaust is a personal pref. everything else he listed i would agree with.
o yea and i heard that the steeda tri ax has problems cant remember what they were but it made me change my mind and go with a pro 5.0 when i get some money
I have a pro 5.0, but if I were you I'd get the mgw, if I had tried it before I got the pro5.0 I would have done that without a doubt.

Now i can definatley go for the K&N filter upgrade, and removing of the silencer, and now for the dumb question...where is the silencer exactly located in the housing? Great tip Chefalan23.
oooooooooi was just looking a mgw shifters and i like their website!!! its the best one i've seen im definatly buying from them just because the website. it is very informative and their pretty cheap.
Yeah, and their shifters are better than their site. The silencer is a plastic baffle in the fender well, its pretty easy to remove.

Cement guy, study Chef's list - that's a good rough draft of a car build sheet...
Now do some soul searching. Where are you taking your car? Is a supercharger sitting somewhere on your list? Nitrous? Turbocharging? Be advised that many of the parts on E-Bay got there from lists like this that CHANGED direction after many of the parts were installed.
Underdrive pulleys, CAI's, upper intakes, intake manifolds, and tall gears might have to go if you end up installing a positive displacement supercharger. For instance...
So get a clear direction in mind from your own research and all the good advice here BEFORE you pull your wallet out. This can save you tons of money downstream and smooth out the road.

If you remove the silencer, wouldnt it be called a hot air intake because it would be sucking air in from the engine bay rather than directing it into the fender, right? I think im mistaking ehat the silencer is. is it the filter housing?
