Default engine swap on a 2004 gt

first of all this site kills me, mainly cause there are so many ideas sometimes i get confused on what todo next. i was looking on ebay and saw some engines that werent badly priced. so my question is, would it be worth and even able to put a 5.4l 3v in my 2004 gt. is it something where i will have to make every mount or is there a kit. or would i be better off with a supercharger, or just try to find a dohc. to many decisions. really appreciate the info.

Engine swaps are a lot of trouble, will cost lots of money and take lots of time. I say just supercharge it and make it faster than a N/A 5.4L. It will cost less and wont be as hard to install. You dont have to upgrade the internals for a blower, just keep the boost under 11-12psi and you will be fine, with a good tune you could make around 400rwhp.

i was thinking of the same thing. i would rather have like a racing 5.0 or 5.4 than a supercharger on my 4.6 and i made a post of it a while back and someone said that the 2000 Cobra "R" had a 5.4 in it. i like the sound of a 5.0 with Z Heads for about 6.5 grand and its about 450 rwhp. but its like 6.5 grand for a brand new motor then u gotta add in all the other things u need to make it work

well on ebay you can get a used 5.4 for like 2 grand. the 5.4 also has thicker piston walls so u can bore them out. with a 5.4 i heard you can do more than with a supercharger. think of a 5.4 with bolt ons and then you add a sc. i read the wiring harness doesnt need to be changed but the computer will. even those on ebay are couple hundred dollars. still confused

i geuss it would even out between a 5.4 and a sc. u would have to have alot of extra time to do a swap though but they advantage of a 5.4 is it sounds meaner and has more power

most any of the Modular engine swaps can be accomplished using off-the-shelf factoty Ford parts...... now, as far as 2V vs 3V vs 4V & 4.6 vs 5.4, it really depends on how "fat" your wallet is
