Default Will T5 transmission fit into 96 mustang GT

I have a 1996 mustang gt and the t-45 transmission in it is trashed. I have good t-5 tranny in my 95 mustang and am wondering if it would work for me in the 96 gt and also what kind of modifying would i have to do if it will.

Won't fit. Two different bellhousing-to-block bolt patterns. And the T-45 has an integral bellhousing, whereas the T-5 has a separate bellhousing. You would have to buy an adapter plate to fit a T-5 bellhousing to a Modular block, if such a part even exists. Then you would need a flywheel with the correct balance for the Modular engine, but small enough to fit inside the T-5 bellhousing and with the right tooth count, and a clutch with the correct spline-count to fit the T-5's input shaft.

Default T5

Also, the T45 is potentially the better transmission.

Visit www.keislerauto.com (I think that is the right name, if not, get back to me) and ask for Richard (member of AFM). They have a very nice T45 rebuild.

the t-5 will not fit there is not plate to help you if your not on a buget id go with a t-56 6-speed or the TKO 500 swap from D@D Preformance it ran me about $2300 and its worth it just make sure you get the close ratio

As everyone has said, the T5 will not fit in your stang without alot of "engineering" on your part.

slowwww 98GT....just so you know, there is no such thing as a close ratio TKO. The TKO's both the 500 and 600 are considered wide ratio transmissions. The 600 is a little closer than the 500 but technically it is still a wide ratio.
