Nitrous, what I'm looking at price, part, and difficulty wise?
Well, gotta say love this place and thought this would be a fun first post rather than ask yall what'll i get outta this and that. Very simply, i dont have too much time till i get deployed and wanna do some burnin'!
i'm talking compared to as if i slowly but surely installed mod's from pulleys to intake plenum, looking at a good year or so with waiting for the part to arrive, waiting for my buddies to get time and install them with me (complete novice here ), and this and that. so why not jump the gun and go with nitrous and then add the rest on. i rather not be over-seas wondering how many ricers i coulda been burning then braggin' and setting up dates to race my boys who think they got something for me...
So this is the system i'm looking at: DynoTune Product, 622.3-99-04 Mustang GT Nitrous System no Bottle/Brackets - DynoTune, Nitrous systems, Purge kits, Nitrous Bottle heaters and more!
Now being a complete noob but also being completely infatuated in true american muscle, my Mustang itself, i want to know:
-can i just jump to nitrous with a completely stock auto stang, vice an exhaust?
-what else on top of that kit will i NEED.
-how much are we looking at? (penny pincher here)
-am i a complete idiot (careful lol)
-(feel free to laugh) with the SCT X3 tuner, do i need to buy a chip on top of that wad of cash for the tuner or is the stock chip able to be programmed and played with?
Its been about a week and i've searched high and low but it seems guys getting gas already have heavily modded stangs not helping my headache too much. i've heard its gonna cost a pretty penny but i'm confident with you guys being able to keep me as close to a grand as possible (i'd hate to go over by a bit but if thats the case, i'll just slowly mod up and get it upon my return) all this is truly fired by a story involving a G35 and a spoiled brat.... you live and learn though. Definately anticipate some action on this one and glad to finally come outta the shadows!
welcome to the sight I think? just kidding welcome!
you can run nitrous on a stock 4.6 with no issues just set it up properly. also stay with a 100 shot or less. I would suggest a wet kit myself. if you do a search on the sight you will finds tons of info.
good luck

go with a wet kit...those dry kits are like a ticking time bomb. You can have your car dynoed...just find a place that does it with your sct tuner. then all you do is load the custom tune to your computer. i would get a window switch and bottle warmer also

haha thanks for the welcome.. i think lol anyways, i plan to only use 100 shots, nothing more, maybe nothing less... i'm a COMPLETE NOOB (no lie ) so i need to know if that kit is ALL i need or am i missing something that is a crucial part? i shall return monday for everything, time to go fishing!!!
oh my searches only reveal modded stangs to be getting gas.. still leaving me with gray areas.
Yes your stang can handle nitrous, get a wet kit for sure. Keep it at 100 shot or less. Can that setup all everyday without issues as long as it is installed correctly.

still stock, but working on that problem
Think about locating a performance shop or knowledgeable folks at Advance or O'Reilly's (they sell the juice around here) in your area and talk over the particulars.
sounds good, i was on here last week and saw someone say nitrous was gonna be around 1500 all together... i'm sure i can find a used bottle and brackets for less than $100 so... $400 aint too bad and in response to RDinTN, i'm an 01 with an '03 GT... paper pusher

ummm, those people have trouble looking up the correct sparkplugs for anything other than stock and your gonna' ask them for advice on Nytrous systems Big Mistake.....
also I'd stay away from used bottles as you dont know how the previous owner(s) heated them and dont skimp on Nytrous parts, spend the money and do it right the 1st time or you'll be sorry.....
Once again I agree with Randy, do NOT take nitrous advice from advance, might as well drop a grenade in your motor at least you'll know when to expect the boom. That kit looks ok, you will definately want a high volume fuel pump, gauge, the right plugs, and a purge kit. If you try to cut corners it would turn out very bad, always does. Nitrous can be safe and reliable if its done right, if not, expect it to be unreliable and dangerous to you and your car. Good luck and welcome to the site.

I spent bought 900 for my hole kit plugs from RANDY hes a good guy and knows his stuff!! I got a zex kit 125 shot with a brenspeed X3 tune already had the tuner, have the heater purge and window switch to turn it on and off at certain rpms u could run the 100 shot and a tune all day long with all the "safe" stuff but id get one heat range colder plugs from RANDY to make it real safe, and its addictive as he&& lol

Randy... your killing me here. i'm glad someone really knows there stuff, being a Marine, i know for sure things arent as easy as they sound. so $800 just for the kit, huh, and $500 for the extra's? ugh, is this top of the line... i'm not gonna be hitting the bottle every week, maybe a few times a month if that, so do i need all that...

well, yeah for a quality Nytrous Kits like the ones sold by NOS or NX, your gonna' pay and some kits contain more parts than others, so do your homework Marine
now you can go cheaper like Compucar stuff, which isn't bad for the price, just remember, you get what you pay for and Nytrous, when used correctly is a Kick in the ass but all it takes is one wrong/bad thing to happen and take-out an engine....
maybe save yourself some money and pick-up a copy of this book, @$20.00 in most places, even think Jegs or Summit might sell it..............
I think I read some of that book a few years ago, if its the one I'm thinking it was very good. Hot rod magazine also did a series about installing and tuning nos, but it was geared mainly toward carb engines. The principle is the same, but putting it into action is not.
