Default 2002 GT Remote oil filter kit install question

I'm installing a Maximum Motorsports remote oil filter kit and have run into a problem. My car seems to not have an extension of some kind from the oil filter mount that is shown in MM's instructions. Please see the photos. This is putting the block adapter closer in where it interferes with what I believe is the power steering pump. The kit is supposed to fit 99-04 GT's. Do you guys with cars of those years have the extension shown in the photo or does your filter screw on directly to the mount on the block? Thanks.

what year is your car? those instructions are "wrong" 1999 & 2000 are Windsor built engines and have a different oil filter adapter than the 1996 to 1998 & 2001 to 2004 Romeo oil filter housings....Im betting yours is a 99/00 Windsor and if-so, you'll need a Romeo oil filter housing to make this work....

Randy,

Thanks for the reply. It's a 2002 GT. I will be going over there(I work about a block and a half from them) and will see what they have to say. I'm glad you responded as it shows that one size probably does not fit all in this case.

oh, ok cool then beings yours is a Romeo, it should fit....
iirc the major difference between the Windsor and Romeo oil filter housing is pretty much that the Romeo housing has a extra 3/8" npt pipe plug in it that people want or need for either an oil feed line for a Turbo/Blower or use as a port for a mechanical oil pressure gauge and I've seen a few 99/00's wth aftermarket "K" members in them and had some oil filter clearence problems, but that can usally be fixxed wth the shorter Motorcraft oil filter......
